Job Description
The Manager, Training and Development, WDAS-Vancouver, has overall responsibility for the design, implementation, delivery, evaluation and management of training programs that facilitate new hire training, onboarding and professional development for the production and management teams in the studio. This learning curriculum will encompass targeted and strategic craft development, filmmaking and leadership development training and will include inspiring and educational lectures, classes and screenings designed to stay informed and educated on the latest evolutions in the industry in storytelling and technology.

This role will partner with studio production and technology leadership on developing priorities working with the Disney Animation Burbank Training team to leverage content and experiences. This highly specialized and unique role involves having a great deal of knowledge in animation and creative processes. The Manager will report to the Director of HR and Operations and design programs for a population of up to 400 of various production and management disciplines.
This is a regular, full time, staff position that will be located at our Vancouver, BC studio. Please note that relocation eligibility may be determined based on role and individual circumstance.

Education, Experience and Skills Required:
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent training required plus 5 years of related experience.
• Proven ability to partner with highly technical subject matter experts to deliver training content
• Has an understanding or knowledge of a CG pipeline, its departments and the individual disciplines.
• Excellent instructional design and advanced facilitation skills
• Strong communication and relationship management skills
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; must be a direct, articulate and thoughtful communicator
• Applied knowledge of learning and development practices
• Proven ability to lead effective learning & development efforts in an organization with a broad range of experience and skill levels, from recent graduates to experienced professionals and filmmakers
• Strong knowledge of the filmmaking and production process
• Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships with internal and external partners
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
• Excellent problem-solving skills, strong ability to proactively identify and implement effective solutions
• Proven track record of establishing and maintaining effective and collaborative relationships across a highly complex organization and with diverse groups and individuals.
• Demonstrated success as a project manager within a film-making, software or educational environment.

Responsibilities:
• In addition to directly serving the needs of ongoing productions, the manager of training is tasked with delivering introductory classes to new hires and ongoing training to technical and non-technical audiences within the studio on a wide range of topics in filmmaking, art and technology.
• Partner with the Head of CG, Artistic Director, Artist Manager and other studio and show leads to design craft development curricula based on the assessment, identification and prioritization of training requirements and skill sets.
• Work closely with Diversity and Inclusion and Training teams on strategies that maximize employee engagement and mitigate bias, and help facilitate a culture that maximizes employee satisfaction and belonging.
• Develop curricula relevant to critical business initiatives, departmental/functional needs of new technology adoption of proprietary and third-party tools.
• Facilitate internal events and programs as needed leveraging internal subject matter experts as well external resources.
• Work with the department leaders to make sure training materials (on-line or instructor led content) are recorded, updated and accurate.
• Source, evaluate and negotiate contracts with and manage the performance of external consultants.
• Promote the Educational Enhancement Program in the studio and ensure the intentions of the program align with its execution and approvals.
• Maintains training class data and calendar making sure all courses and events are entered and accounted for in the proprietary system. Assists in the creation of reports and schedules of training activity.
• Coordinates Enrichment Training programming, scheduling sculpting and drawing classes as well as other artistic classes.
