WALB-TV is the dominant #1 station and award-winning NBC/ABC affiliate in Albany, GA. WALB began broadcasting on April 7th, 1954 becoming the flagship broadcast TV station of Gray Television. We service more than 40 counties across South Georgia, including news bureaus in the cities of Thomasville, Valdosta, and Tifton.

Job Summary/Description:

WALB in Albany, GA has an immediate opening for a full-time news producer. We are looking for a strong writer with excellent news judgment and creative showcasing skills to help lead our morning show. This position is also responsible for producing material for our digital media platforms. The successful candidate must have strong initiative, be detail oriented, and perform well under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Editing experience is a must. Applicants must also be flexible and willing to work overnights, holidays, weekends or overtime hours as needed.

The primary job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Produce newscasts including stacking, writing scripts, editing video, editing copy, making/ordering graphics to fit stories, making maps, coordinating live shots with directors, production staff, and reporters
- Computer knowledge including newsroom software (ENPS), Microsoft applications and Internet use - Write and post numerous stories for all digital platforms
- Demonstrate strong editorial judgment while following journalistic ethics and libel laws
- Ability to maintain professional and ethical conduct at the station and in the community
- Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving in a collaborative manner with co-workers, supervisors, and viewers
- Flexibility to work varied shifts when necessary, including overnights and weekends - Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:
- College degree in journalism or related field required or equivalent professional experience
- Must pass a mandatory drug screening
