We service more than 40 counties across South Georgia, including news bureaus in the cities of Thomasville, Tifton, and Valdosta.

Job Summary/Description:

WALB in Albany, GA has an immediate opening for a full-time Senior Multi-Media Journalist (Sr. MMMJ). We are looking for a competitive and energetic self-starter with strong writing and storytelling skills, who is capable of asking tough questions and is the 'go to' for the big story. The ideal candidate can meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Shooting and editing experience, and an understanding of digital platforms is a must. At least two years of previous reporting experience is preferred.

Primary job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
-Research, pitch, gather, shoot, write, edit, and report enterprise news stories for broadcast and digital platforms
-Live reporting daily for multiple newscasts
-Produce/report targeted investigative pieces as assigned
-Fill-in Anchor as assigned
-Develop and maintain sources of information and knowledge about assignments
-Assist with training of new reporters
-Make regular beat checks
-Computer knowledge including newsroom software (ENPS), Microsoft applications, and Internet use
-Demonstrate strong editorial judgment while following journalistic ethics and libel laws
-Must stay current with national and local news/weather, know what is going on in the community
-Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving in a collaborative manner with co-workers, supervisors, and viewers
-Ability to maintain professional and ethical conduct at the station and in the community
-Be able to work well under strict deadline pressure
-Work a flexible schedule but not limited to overtime, holidays, and weekends
-Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:
-College degree in journalism or related field required or equivalent professional experience.
-At least two years of news reporting experience preferred
-Must hold a valid driver's license, be insurable and pass a mandatory drug screening
