WALB-TV is the dominant #1 station and award-winning NBC/ABC affiliate in Albany, GA. WALB began broadcasting on April 7th, 1954 becoming the flagship broadcast TV station of Gray Television. We service more than 40 counties across South Georgia, including two news bureaus in the cities of Thomasville and Valdosta.

Job Summary/Description:

WALB in Albany, GA has an immediate opening for a full-time multi-media journalist (MMJ). We are looking for an aggressive self-starter who can shoot, write, and edit for TV and all digital platforms. The ideal candidate will be a strong writer who demonstrates sound news judgment and delivers compelling enterprise content daily. Shooting and editing experience, and an understanding of digital platforms is a must. Successful candidates will be able to perform well under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following:
- Research, pitch, gather, shoot, write, edit, and report enterprise news stories for broadcast and digital platforms
- Live reporting daily for multiple newscasts
- Turn more than one news story daily
- Develop and maintain sources of information and knowledge about assignments
- Make regular beat checks
- Computer knowledge including newsroom software (ENPS), Microsoft applications, and Internet use
- Demonstrate strong editorial judgment while following journalistic ethics and libel laws
- Must stay current with national and local news/weather, know what is going on in the community
- Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving in a collaborative manner with co-workers, supervisors, and viewers
- Ability to maintain professional and ethical conduct at the station and in the community
- Be able to work well under strict deadline pressure
- Work a flexible schedule but not limited to overtime, holidays, and weekends
- Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:
- College degree in journalism or related field required or equivalent professional experience
- Must hold a valid driver's license, be insurable and pass a mandatory drug screening
