Associate Producer, Decoder

Job Description

The Verge is looking for an Associate Producer to focus primarily on our premiere audio show: Decoder with Nilay Patel. You should have interest in the technology and business space with previous experience researching and producing interview shows. We're looking for a creative and ambitious individual with a strong attention to detail, a drive to break news, and a determination to continually experiment in format and evolve the voice of our show.

What you'll do:
• Pitch and research episodes and series ideas
• Assist Lead Producer in booking diverse guests, reporting, and writing pre-production scripts for host
• Help set up guests to record and ensure production runs smoothly
• Gather tape, assemble segments, and fact check episodes
• Assist in preparing show for delivery, including transcripts and articles, art for The Verge's website, audiograms and social/promotional assets, metadata, and other deliverables
• With Lead Producer, create and update the show's style guide
• Support other Verge audio productions as needed
• Maintain a high attention to detail and rigor throughout all production stages and on all delivery assets, ensuring the show meets The Verge's standards

• Very strong research skills
• A foundation in audio production and creative show development with demonstrated proficiency in audio scripting and storytelling
• A commitment to developing The Verge's unique sound and voice in podcasting, and a drive to continually push the envelope of what we can do.

This is a full-time position. Remote applications ok.
