Job Description

We currently have a position open for an Onboarding Engineer, in our Onboarding Department, located in Burbank, California.

Candidates must be self-motivated, with superior work ethic and ability to work to strict delivery deadlines, with minimal direct supervision. Must have the ability to review and understand technical specs as they pertain to the creation of and delivery to digital distribution platforms.

Position Overview

The Onboarding Engineer is part of the Onboarding Department and under direction of the VP and Director of Operations, collaborates with Engineering to support the Operations, Sales and Client Services departments. The Onboarding Engineer is responsible for testing, research and development, onboarding, workflow management and training for operational implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Onboard new clients and develop new workflows for use in Operations Departments
  • Manage client specs and provide guidance to make sure all needs are met 
  • Communicate with clients and client services 
  • Assist with maintaining up-to-date workflow documentation and operational training efforts
  • Work with Engineering to research and develop new tools for implementation into Operations
  • Analyze and develop automation to improve workflow efficiencies.
  • Data Asset Management and assisting in the creation of encoded and transcoded files, for delivery across multiple, broadcast, VOD, online retailer/internet platforms worldwide.
  • Some Data Management responsibility with production storage and managing LTO archive
  • Resolve issues either technical or workflow related, and collaborate with operational departments and client services, towards a timely resolution
  • Operation of various asset and workflow management tools
  • Represent and uphold all department policies and procedures and maintain an exceptional level of service for our customers
  • Undertake additional department duties as required

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 3+ years of post-production or media distribution experience
  • Ability to review and understand technical specs as they pertain to the creation of and delivery to broadcast and digital distribution platforms
  • Results oriented with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and both written and verbal communication skills
  • In depth knowledge of I/O delivery/receiving a must
  • In depth knowledge of Audio, HD and SD Video Signal Flow, Physical and File Based Formats, Aspect Ratios, Frame Rates and Conversion Processes
  • In depth knowledge of audio/video, physical and file formats and electronic delivery platforms
  • In depth knowledge of major online retailer Metadata / XML Creation and Verification, Digital Packaging and Quality Control processes
  • Strong multi-tasker, with experience with organizing and managing multiple priorities, while retaining comprehensive knowledge of multiple workflows
  • Strong ability to follow direction, work unsupervised, at a fast pace in a calm and collected manner
  • Ability to troubleshoot and act as a critical thinker
  • Ability to manage client expectations and juggle multiple urgencies
  • Ability to identify areas of improvement and inefficiency
  • Knowledge of all open digital delivery platforms such as Aspera, Smartjog and Signiant
  • Experience with file creation tools such as FFMpeg, FCP, Compressor, Premiere, Avid, DVS Clipster, Telestream Vantage, Alchemist, MacCaptions
  • Working knowledge of Python, Linux, C++, HTML, Java
