The Job

VICE NEWS is the home of high-quality, thought-provoking, award-winning factual television. Our acclaimed series appear on multiple platforms including Showtime, VICE TV and on our robust digital channels. You will oversee a team and work closely with Executive Producers and Creatives at VICE News in managing our slate of original content including VICE News Tonight, VICE on Showtime and our long-form premium news documentary series, specials and hours. Responsibilities include budget oversight and implementation of best practices from pre-production through delivery. The position will work closely with our internal creative and production finance teams along with our content producers to ensure efficient delivery. A successful candidate will be proactive and relentless, entrepreneurial, flexible, thorough, and able to juggle multiple and diverse responsibilities in the US and in our global offices.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work with internal business functions and external production teams on establishing key production schedules and workflows and optimizing budgets
• Work with series producers to prepare and vet show budgets and schedules, providing feedback internally on viability and risks and help ensure that productions meet deadlines and stay within budget
• Maintain neutral oversight and provide support as issues arise throughout production and establish an open dialogue with external and internal production partners
• Oversee and communicate with internal and external teams for production scheduling
• Implement key performance indicators and strategic objectives for News and facilitate measurement of those objectives, reporting results to the executive team
• Manage budgets of multiple productions
• Work with the EVP, CFO, and the GM of VICE World News to develop a content delivery strategy
• Partner with Business Affairs, Creative Executives, Legal, Finance, Accounting, Treasury, Operations, Risk Management and HR.
• Work within applicable state and federal labor laws and union rules.
• Work with EPs of content verticals to ensure successful delivery
• Implement best practices to improve the efficiency and quality of VICE News' Production operations
• Ability to meet last minute high-priority requests without affecting ongoing Productions
• Working knowledge of production cycles and related unions and guilds
• Manage ad hoc requests regarding development and series production matters, internal/external audit requests, payment details as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Demonstrated creative experience of 10+ years having worked with medium/high budget studio and/or major production company, and/or in network news environment
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and lead both internal teams and external partners
• Ability to handle a fast-paced environment supervising multiple projects in various points of production (from development through delivery)
• Team-player who drives innovation and thrives in a collaborative, entrepreneurial setting
• Strong relationship-building ability
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Has knowledge of and actively consumes VICE content
• Experience overseeing both online and traditional video content
• Detailed knowledge of trends in documentary-style video content; ability to use this knowledge to influence business decisions
• Forge partnerships with producers, line producers, production accountants
• Experience successfully managing large teams of production staff
• Must be willing to work from New York, NY
