Help bring the R29 point of view to life across our social media channels, connecting with our emergent audience in new and unexpected ways. Demonstrate a native understanding of social media and a deep knowledge of all social media platforms including Instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat and all of their features, have experience collaborating with the community, and a desire to be on the cutting edge of audience development. Expert at using analytics to support or craft strategy. Superior organizational abilities, excellent communication skills, and attention to detail are a must. This role will report to the Social Media Director.

Role x Team

Grow Refinery29's smart, driven, and stylish social-first audience through expansive, creative storytelling. Become a central point of contact for our editorial leads, advising on platform and format to bring their ideas to life, underpinning decisions with data. Develop social-first vertical series and help develop overall social strategy from inception to publishing, with a special focus on new audience development, innovative IP and content creation, and cross-platform distribution. Ideate around new tools (Stories, Twitter Shop Live, TikTok, Reels etc.) and test in innovative ways.

In the short term you will…
• With support from the Social Director, oversee the execution of social strategy across Refinery29's off-platform channels including IG, FB, Twitter, Snapchat, Pinterest, and TikTok to tell an integrated story
• Manage workflow and overall social coordination, creating and reviewing content for vertical-specific distribution, and leading the off-platform vision in support of the team's mission and established audience goals
• Manage and lead programming for Refinery29's social calendar, including day to day operations, recurring series + franchises, big cultural moments, and tentpole-specific activations in partnership with editorial team
• Manage a team of social editors to create 360 degree compelling content across platforms and serve as the project manager between departments
• Gather insights and work closely with the content strategy, editorial, video, and audience development teams to apply them regularly across channels to ensure content reaches and serves the intended audience

After 6 months in this role you will…
• With support from the Social Director, have an ability to thoughtfully manage the social media team globally, with responsibility for workflow, budget management, strategy and aligning resource to company goals
• Refine and set the social strategy with the team members
• Take leadership on building and executing tentpoles that align with the brand
• Identify and secure editorial social-first partnerships and swaps with talent, influencers, creators, partners, and platforms that align with the brand for further audience development

And after a year you should be…
• Ensuring tight goals with measurable factors of success
• Working on road maps for the team's development
• Maintaining updated social best practices for tone, voice, and visual asset
• Beginning to manage and spend budget with the team and external talent

Responsibilities:
• Oversee daily content scheduling across platforms, ensuring a regular cadence of series and balance of new formats with a focus on vertical video creation
• Manage the platform's social budget, maximizing spend for results, aligning to OKRs
• Help to manage the social team working across the channels you are responsible for, providing tangible goals, support and mentoring
• Identify, approach and negotiate with external talent to work with Refinery29 for social content
• Work closely with US and UK editorial and affiliate teams, to produce mission-driven social first content and projects working hand in hand with editorial
• Build an active and engaged Gen-Z audience on our platforms
• Coordinate the design, production and deployment of social first visual and motion assets by working closely with the design team
• Work closely with analytics for optimized reporting
• Provide strategic insight to the business on archetypes, best practice and story positioning, feeding back to our commercial team on where there could be monetizable opportunities
• Community management oversight across all platforms, maintaining Refinery29 tone of voice and aligning to our mission
• Keep abreast of all industry news and updates across social platforms and their technologies that might affect performance

You have these:
• 3-5 years of relevant experience in consumer-facing social media management or similar roles
• Clear understanding of audience development strategies and best practices
• Strong copywriting skills
• Comfortable analyzing content performance using analytics tools (CrowdTangle, Google Analytics, Buzzsumo, Domo, Adobe Creative Suite)
• Strong leadership, communication, and management skills
