VIRTUE Worldwide is a full-service creative agency powered by VICE Media Group. Being part of an award winning media and entertainment group offers us a unique vantage point: inside culture. We use that to build brands - from being able to read culture, to deep audience insight; producing anything from ads to podcasts to NFTs.
With 24 offices globally, we specialize in developing brand platforms, campaigns and ideas that contribute to culture. VIRTUE acts as lead creative, content, and cultural agency for clients including Coca-Cola, Johnnie Walker and Converse.
VIRTUE is seeking a Head of Strategy for Europe to play a key leadership role in the growth of the agency. From leading pitches to cultivating the team to growing client relationships. You will work in partnership with Europe's MD and ECD to continue to build our offering in the region. You will oversee and build your strategy team across the region and of course, you will be our most senior strategic point of contact for clients.
You will drive the agenda for strategy in Europe: Building a team with excellent cultural insight, strong strategic instincts, original perspectives, and great creative collaboration. Using the resources that being 'powered by VICE' gives us, you will see the world as others can't, and so get to work that others couldn't.
Responsibilities:
• Set the course: The challenges that land on Virtue's doorstep are varied. You will have a clear point of view on how to tackle each challenge, and be able to set your strategists off and running.
• Create the conditions in which your team can do their best work.
• Manage and mentor the strategy team to develop in their careers.
• Collaborate cross functionally: Your strategic skills will need to applied right the way from strategy to concept to tactics and implementation.
• Foster a culture of thought leadership, respectful provocation, and collaboration.
• Champion strategy within the agency.
• Coordinate strategy teams in other regions to share ideas, knowledge and resources
• Lead the strategy team in developing breakthrough ideas for new business and key accounts.
• Troubleshooting: Stepping in to reset the direction or solve a problem when needed.
• Develop strong relationships with clients: Helping them to get to their best work, and to get the best out of Virtue.
• Establish strong and collaborative relationships with department heads and employees across the business including account, creative, analytics, and more.
• Strive to make the work better, more effective, and to put the very best briefs in front of our creative teams.
• Be an active participant in industry groups, and be an ambassador of thought leadership for the agency.
A little about you:
• You have 12+ years experience in strategy in an agency environment, and 5+ years experience managing direct reports.
• You understand and explain market conditions, landscape, and trend analysis with ease.
• You have a proven track record of pitching and winning new business.
• You know how to spot a true Insight.
• You are culturally engaged and have a knack for spotting the big shifts, trends and forces acting on consumers.
• You have the ability to come up with big thinking that move the creative forward, and unlock potential in our clients businesses.
• You are an excellent writer and communicator - from simple, inspiring creative briefs; to watertight presentations that captivate your audience.
• You are experienced in leading workshops and working groups of clients and agencies.
• You are proactive: There is a world of opportunities and insights and interesting stuff in VMG for anyone keen to go digging.
• You are proficient when it comes to conducting primary research or synthesizing third party research to support strategies.
• Strong quantitative analysis skills: ability to use industry analysis, financial forecasting, business model evaluation, scenario analysis, and other forms of data-intensive financial modeling to derive strategic insight and inform executive decision-making
