The award-winning VICE News team develops and produces news, current affairs, and documentary content for VICE platforms and 3rd-party partners. The team focuses on in-depth and immersive work, always searching for unique and creative ways to tell stories. The Job

VICE NEWS is the home of high-quality, thought-provoking, award-winning factual television. Our acclaimed series appear on multiple platforms including Showtime, VICE TV and on our robust digital channels. You will oversee a small team, and work closely with Executive Producers and Creatives at VICE News to develop and bring to life premium documentaries and unscripted factual series for streamers, domestic and international linear outlets, as well as our digital channels. Creative thinking and industry knowledge are key to this role: turning ideas and existing IP into fully fleshed-out development, and finding the right platforms for those projects. You will need a strong grasp of recent commissions and projects in the industry, and also be able to identify opportunities and create a robust future pipeline. You will need to be a champion for new and diverse talent and ideas, with excellent editorial judgement. You will also have an in-depth understanding of the agent and buyer community, and use this shorthand to help identify stories that could work for our internal partners at VICE Studios, VICE TV and Pulse Films. The ideal candidate will have a keen editorial instinct, creative flair, and a determined and resourceful approach.

Responsibilities:
• Develop successful pitches for series, features, and multi-part documentaries in response to internal and external ideas
• Generate repeatable IP formats
• Drive forward innovative proposals that connect with our diverse audiences • Develop for multiple price-points across premium, linear and digital
• Generate opportunities and help land commissions working alongside internal sales resources
• Work with existing VICE News EPs, producers, journalists and creatives to generate and develop projects
• Work closely with development colleagues at VICE TV, VICE Studios, and Pulse Films to identify News IP that could align with their series and market needs
• Continue to grow and re-define the VICE News brand as it enters its second decade; Help grow the profile of the emerging VICE World News brand

Skill Sets and Track Record:
• Proven relationships with a range of A-list directors, producers and production companies
• Proven expertise in non-fiction features, series and factual formats
• Ability to develop and manage a wide range of complex internal and external relationships • Broad industry knowledge and sound understanding of the external trends and forces, with good knowledge of commercial opportunities
• Understanding of the global market, trends and opportunities
• An ability to meet budget challenges while creating world-class work
• A respect and understanding of VICE content and audiences
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Financial responsibility, strong planning skills, and the ability to manage projects to budget and deadline
