Based in New York, The Director, Business Development will temporarily report to the Global Chief Growth Officer and is responsible, alongside the team, for leading Virtue's North American business development efforts. This person will work in tandem with an additional director to: (1) oversee all proactive outbound and inbound opportunities for North America and (2) any ad hoc growth initiatives in partnership with the Global Chief Growth Officer, the wider Growth team (in NA and other markets if applicable), the Virtue marketing and communications teams.

A Head of Business Development will be appointed in due course and at that time, this role will report to this person.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Responsible for proactive outbound (lead generation) and managing inbound new business opportunities from qualification through close including running the full pitch process seamlessly with all the key stakeholders.
• Partner with Heads of Client Service, Strategy, Creative, Project Management and Production and day-to-day pitch teams on all North American pitches to ensure the highest standard of organization, preparation, and delivery; coach teams to successful conversion
• Co-manage the growth team, which currently includes the Senior New Business Manager (hiring), New Business Manager (hiring) and BD Coordinator. These resources sit in Brooklyn and support all N.A. opportunities. In addition, the ability to work in a collaborative, team-spirited environment while also appreciating the need to be independent and agile, is key to ensure professional growth and impact on the team.
• Track opportunity pipeline and activity reporting in collaboration with Finance ( a working knowledge of Salesforce would be a plus but not required). Co-lead weekly Virtue N.A. business development status call.
• Strategically assess, manage, and provide support on inbound requests from global offices and Vice Media.
• Lead RFP response development, presentation content, and any other ad hoc marketing copy/asset needs necessary as part of pitch process that you own; ensuring that all content and materials we create contribute to our growing bank of information - from case studies, creds, RFPs/RFIs to successful pitch craft implemented on winning pitches.
• Attend industry conferences and events as needed to network on behalf of the agency and identify leads to add to our pipeline. Likewise nurturing those relationships to generate opportunities for business, and ensuring that contact information is captured for ongoing database purposes.
• Step in to take any prospective client meetings that either the Global Chief Growth Officer can't make to maintain momentum of relationship development and/or pitch process.

Secondary Responsibilities:
• Ideate on and execute – in partnership with the marketing & communications teams – current and prospective North American client events to provide Client Services and the Agency opportunities to build relationships outside of day-to-day work streams.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree
• 8+ years in client service and/or business development experience at a creative and/or media agency. Previous experience on account management would be a bonus, but not a prerequisite
• Comfortable talking to senior clients about their challenges and also helping navigate and curate conversations with senior stakeholders internally (within VICE and Virtue) and externally (with clients)
• Ability to travel to meet with prospective clients and lead new business meetings
• Proficient in Google & Microsoft Suite of products, Keynote, and Salesforce
• Self motivated, team builder, with a real 'sleeves rolled up' approach to doing work. Takes initiative, believes in the phrase ''teamwork makes the dream work'' and ''new business is everyone's business''
• Has no ego and believes in collaboration to be successful
• Hands-on approach to managing both processes and people and leads by example
• Excellent organizational skills, ability to multitask and prioritize
• Ability to work well under pressure
• A great public speaker and able to command a room in pitches
• Passion and drive for providing an exceptional product and experiences
• A people person with a great, nice, and positive attitude
