Production Attorney

Job Description

This role is for a show Production Attorney of CBS's New York-based syndicated shows and online, digital extensions. The attorney will report directly to the SVP of Legal and will be responsible for aspects of the production. Some of the typical day-to-day will include, negotiating and drafting an array of production-related location, talent, materials licensing, integrated marketing and vendor agreements; conducting pre-broadcast clearance review; and advising on broadcast standards and practices issues, copyright, privacy and defamation issues. Position responsibilities also entail vetting promotional material, website and Internet content, and giveaways, contests & sweepstakes. The ideal Production Attorney will be capable of providing thoughtful legal advice to the producers, crew, and promotional creative teams on all potential legal risks and compliance issues in a variety of areas. The successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills; be organized and able to multi-task in an active, time-sensitive environment; and possess excellent judgment and professional discretion.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:
• 2 or more years law firm and production vetting experience
• Knowledge of defamation, rights of privacy and publicity, fair use, and copyright and trademark law
• Familiarity with product placement and integrations a plus
• JD from an accredited law school and NY State Bar membership
