Producer, On the Road with Steve Hartman

CBS EVENING NEWS with Norah O'Donnell is seeking a smart, creative, and organized Producer to produce the On the Road with Steve Hartman series. This person will work in tandem with Steve Hartman and is responsible for finding, booking, and assisting in producing original stories each week for the CBS Evening News and CBS Sunday Morning. This person should be thorough, detail-oriented, and capable of keeping track of many projects simultaneously over months or even years. A keen grasp of booking and research experience is highly preferred. Must have a strong sense of ethics and ability to detect when stories aren't as they seem. In addition to producing stories for the On the Road series, the Producer will work on multiplatform projects adjacent to the franchise for CBS Mornings, streaming, digital, and CBS affiliates - such as Kindness 101 and Taps Across America. The Producer should be willing and eager to travel on shoots when possible, and have familiarity with the basics of camera operation, scheduling shoots, and story construction. They must also be comfortable and creative managing and engaging a large social media community across various platforms. Most of all, passion for feature storytelling is essential.

Qualifications:
- 3+ years production experience in a professional newsroom preferred
- Must have experience booking stories
- Must be an excellent communicator
- Experience shooting pieces and orchestrating shoots is a plus
- Must have solid news judgment and high journalistic standards
- Thrives on a deadline and is comfortable being solely responsible for filling the time slot each week. Must be able to multi-task effectively without sacrificing quality or accuracy
- Passion for feature storytelling is a must. Need not have worked on features in the past
- Must be a team player with a positive attitude
- Proficiency creating content for all major social media programs - primarily Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
- Position requires travel
