SENIOR ACCOUNTANT – 1 YEAR CONTRACT

The UMC team works in a hybrid, flexible environment with three days a week from our creative campus located in Liberty Village, Toronto, and two days to work virtually .

Reporting to the VP, Finance, the Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring that accounts and financial records meet established standards and criteria. Which include analyzing financial documents, recording and verifying transactions .

Responsibilities
• Review third party distributed label statements, resolve issues, and develop relationships with distributed labels
• Conduct variance analysis for P&D deals
• Assist in month-end close procedures including adjusting journal entries and variance analysis
• Assist in account reconciliation and analysis as required, particularly in intercompany balances and bank reconciliation
• Assist with Monthly Financial Statement reporting
• Banking and Treasury functions
• Responsible for Sales Tax Return for all jurisdictions and resolve any issues with the tax authorities
• Supervise and train a team of accountants working remotely
• Assist in quarterly forecast and annual plan submission
• Interpret contracts and translate to financial accounting
• Other projects as assigned and ad hoc reporting

Requirements
• Able to multi-task and prioritize within a deadline driven, fast-paced, changing environment
• Accuracy and reliability of work with figures is essential
• Highly computer literate (highly proficient in Excel including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP) and experience in SAP is preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a customer service focus
• Accounting background with strong analytical and problem solving-skills.
• Recently designated (CGA, CMA, CPA) or in final stages
• Proven ability to meet multiple deadlines and a strong sense of initiative
• Supervisory experience preferred
• Cash flow and Balance Sheet experience preferred
• Proven ability to enhance processes
• Be motivated and a self-starter
