Job Description

Reporting to the Head of Marketing, you'll be responsible for the planning and execution of our artist marketing plans, engaging new audiences across key marketing channels & partnerships to drive fan growth as well as retain and engage existing audiences.

You will be asked to lead on certain projects, ensuring a collaborative and fully integrated plan that is delivered on time and to budget. You will be a key part of a team communicating an artist's vision and story to a wider audience, for both new and established artists, and ensuring we build on their careers. You will act as a conduit of information throughout the label, working with other departments such as Commercial, Promotions and A&R.

Skills & Experience

Be Operational
• Across pre-agreed projects, lead the project to ensure the delivery of a collaborative and fully integrated plan Responsibilities include helping the team define key objectives and strategies, producing project updates, leading key meetings and once approved ensuring the project is delivered on time and to budget
• Oversee pitching, production and delivery of all assets needed for all departments
• Liaise regularly with artists and their management to discuss any relevant marketing and artist campaign issues
• Oversee all market research activity, on- and off-line, liaising closely with the Universal Music Insight division and internal teams at EMI
• Collaborate with the wider label – A&R/Digital/Audience/Press/Promotions/Sales etc. to ensure connected and cutting-edge campaigns across the business
• Write and publish weekly marketing updates for the label
• Manage relevant artist showcases and events
• Book and coordinate all marketing for album campaigns with our media agencies where appropriate (OOH, TV Adverts, VoD, digital advertising)
• Manage relationships with independent PR & promotions agencies to elevate our artist's profile across Press, TV & Radio
• Coordinate retail-marketing strategy across specialist retail, D2C and DSPs globally with the commercial team
• Execute production of artist in store PAs and other promotional activities involving live performances
• Liaison with the A&R Managers and producers of domestic roster acts with regards to master delivery, mixes, samplers, label copy, music samples and technical issues relevant to the initiation and marketing of a product
• Operate within agreed budgetary controls for initiation of records and marketing plans, operating the computerised budget control system and keeping accurate records of expenditure and planned expenditure

Be Creative
• We encourage you to stay on top of the latest creative trends, cultural moments and digital innovation and apply these to your campaigns
• Craft the artist narrative and proposition with the help of EMI creative team and Head of Marketing
• Offer strong, cohesive briefs to creative agencies and then select the best treatment to meet the needs of the marketing campaign
• Build content plans and manage content production tailored to different channels and audiences, ensuring messaging aligns with the overall communication strategy for a project
• Develops impactful & effective advertising assets with the content creation team or external agencies as appropriate
• Commission creatives and designers to build the creative vision for your projects (from vinyl product to album visualisers)
• Commission and arrange photo sessions, select photographers, draft contracts, attend photo shoots and distribute contact sheets to team for discussion and approval
• Commission and co-ordinate video and content shoots as above
• Bring a positive and open attitude to team discussions and brainstorms and have your voice heard

Be Digital
• In collaboration with other EMI teams, create digital campaign strategy, ideas and execution across your roster of artists
• Audience insight and development strategy for each artist. A focus on audience building for all artists
• Integrate influencer and lifestyle marketing into all digital campaigns and maintain a good knowledge of key players and trends within this space
• Executing promotional activations for our artists with various digital partners (social media platforms, publishers, tastemakers)
• Stay abreast of new technology and music trends and find opportunities to effectively work these into artist campaigns
• Oversee the briefing, build and maintenance of all artist digital touch points - official website, social networks, apps, mobile destinations etc
• Thorough knowledge of Tiktok, Instagram, YouTube and all other relevant social media essential
• Sourcing, briefing and overseeing external social media agencies for individual artists
• Occasional social media reporting, social media calendars and social health-checks
• Ensure CRM and data capture is sewn into all artist campaigns in and out of the release cycle

Person Specification
• Proven experience of successfully managing a wide range of acts
• Interest/knowledge of alternative, alt-pop, indie and rock genres
• Proven knowledge of charts, current trends and artists
• Must be fully immersed in popular culture and a digital native with keen understanding of current youth trends
• Must have a full understanding and passion for the latest innovations and consumer trends in digital media and technology
• Passion and experience in digital marketing
• Proven capability to work autonomously, demonstrating the ability to make decisions
• Drive and ability to push projects through to completion.
• Experience of managing budgets
• Proven ability to contribute to innovative, creative and commercially successful marketing strategies
• Excellent relationship-building and relationship-management skills and the ability to deal with difficult situations with tact and diplomacy
• Capacity to represent the company across inter-disciplinary groups
• Strong communication skills, written and verbal
• Experience assisting photo shoots, including managing budgets, briefs and contracts
• Experience of working with and guiding external creative and media buying agencies

Desirable
• Excellent contacts with photographers, creative agencies, influencers, tastemakers, social platforms
