Job Description

As UI Technical Artist at Ubisoft Annecy, you will be working together with the team
at Massive Entertainment to create a new story-driven open-world video game set in
the Star Wars galaxy. Our goal is to create a game and a story that bring both new
and lifelong fans on an immersive and outstanding journey, which will stay with them
for years to come

While keeping device and user limitations in mind, you ensure all interface assets can be rendered without compromising the artistic vision, on the one hand, or busting your memory budget on the other, setting benchmarks for your UI along the way.

You're the development team's hybrid specialist, speaking both from the heart and the mind, with your eye on AAA quality.

Your daily life
• Design and produce UI visuals in line with the art direction and the gameplay intentions
• Script UI behaviors using Node Based Visual Scripting Language (internal tool)
• Ensuring UI is as optimal as possible by balancing artistic and gameplay intentions with project constraints.
• Work closely with programmers, level designers and game designers to deliver features on time
• Monitor UI best practices, tools, and trends to evolve our methods and bring about player-centric improvements
• Investigate, develop, and implement new techniques to drive the team's UI to the forefront of the video game industry and set new standards

Qualifications

What you bring to the team
• Art experience in the video game industry (or other relevant experience)
• Experience in scripting
• Experience working with the Adobe Creative Suite (especially Photoshop and After Effects)
• An understanding of graphics/UI libraries (like NGUI and React Native)
• Knowledge of shader writing and motion graphics is a bonus but not mandatory
• A desire to share your knowledge and expertise to push the boundaries of technology & help others improve their skills
• The ability to adapt and wear many hats, including artist, programmer, teacher, communicator, leader, supporter, memory-budget manager, creator, and innovator – among others.
