Job Description
We are looking for a highly talented, motivated, and experienced person to work with us on XDefiant, a new multiplatform online multiplayer action game based in our San Francisco studio. XDefiant is a free-to-play, fast-paced arena shooter that combines intense combat with personalized loadouts and specialized factions, as teams battle for domination.

As a Gameplay Network Engineer, you'll be entrusted with developing the game's higher-level network features, ensuring the game simulation's fairness, reducing latency, and optimizing network performance. You are an essential part of a team that holds the player's connected experience at the core of its mission. You're focused on making the game as responsive as possible in multiplayer matches and as fair as possible.

You will work on a small collaboration-oriented team where you will have the opportunity to contribute in meaningful ways.

You'll also be part of the diverse Ubisoft San Francisco team. We embrace a variety of work situations based on what is best for the team, and we welcome people working in our SF office, remotely within the continental US, or some combination of the two. We put a priority on supporting our team members and what makes them happiest and most productive.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Collaborate with other engineers to improve the game's network replication
• Optimize networking systems to improve latency
• Work to level the playing field and maximize game fairness
• Educate content creators and gameplay engineers on how to maximize network reliability and replication
• Develop networking code to interact with backend systems for new gameplay features and data collection
• Maintain and extend documentation on network-oriented features and systems
• Debug and optimize existing gameplay networking 

Qualifications

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
• C/C++ experience with understanding of multi-threaded programming techniques
• Experience building games as a network-oriented gameplay engineer for PlayStation, Xbox, or PC
• Understanding of computer and console game networking systems and technologies (e.g. peer-to-peer and client/server models, latency compensation, etc.)
• Experience with off-the-shelf anti-cheat products, such as Easy Anti-Cheat or Battleye
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work as a part of a team
• Self-directed, focused, and detail-oriented
