The Job

WarnerMedia seeks a Senior Systems Engineer for the META - IO Network Augment department. The Senior Systems Engineer is a member of the senior infrastructure technical team and is an expert in the Linux general purpose softwareworld, focusing on Red Hat/CentOS/Ubuntu, Satellite, Ansible, Jenkins, Chef and related technologies, in a highly virtualized (VMware) environment.

This senior professional provides expert-level design, maintenance, configuration, and support of information technology systems in a 24x7x365 media production environment with attention to availability, performance, capacity planning, and security, in addition to acting as a lead and/or mentor to other technical staff. Frequently works on large projects in planning, execution and documentation phases. Is a senior member of the department with final ownership of incident escalations within several IT-leaning ITIL Service areas. Automates solutions for common problems via scripting. This position will lead in the development and maintenance of operational control systems to reduce the workload and simplify the required skillsets for staff in other areas of the support organization.

This is a Monday-Friday, nine to five type role with on-call responsibilities.

The Essentials
• Excellent analytical thinking skills, esp. in the realm of complex system troubleshooting.
Strong communication skills, including written/drawn documentation and verbal customer/executive interactions.
• Ability to lead and mentor across teams where no reporting relationship exists.
• Demonstrated self-starter with capacity for working independently.
• Ability to balance multiple competing demands.
• 5+ years experience in systems administration; 10+ years overall IT experience desired; 2+ years in an enterprise minimal-downtime environment.
• 3+ years experience and expert-level skills with the Linux technology stack: Red Hat/CentOS/Ubuntu, Satellite, Ansible, Jenkins, Chef and related technologies.
• 3+ years experience automating tasks in at least one complex scripting language (Perl, Python, Bash, etc.)
• 3+ years experience with server virtualization technologies, preferably VMware ESX.
• Experience with AWS Cloud technologies highly desirable.
• Experience with enterprise support systems and the ITIL framework highly desirable.
• Experience with application and infrastructure monitoring and analytics.
• Experience with Microsoft Windows desirable.
• Experience with other areas of general IT infrastructure (storage, networking, etc.) desirable.
