Technical Director

Job Description

Tennis Channel is searching for a Technical Director to become part of its tennis-loving team in its new, state-of-the-art facility in Santa Monica, California. Our Technical Director ensures error free technical execution of daily live shows through a Grass Valley switcher.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Cuts live studio shows consistently and error free
• Rolls clips during live shows via Avid Interplay/EVS Spot Box/EVS
• Works in collaboration with Producers and Directors to execute overall programming strategy
• Set-ups and operates different types of television/video cameras and associated equipment, including studio and remote cameras, jib crane and robotic camera system
• Works with Transmission to ensure live shots are prepared and ready for air
• Assists, as needed, with other areas of studio production
• Assists with the general upkeep and operation of associated equipment
• Performs duties on remote broadcasts, as assigned
• Demonstrates a strong technical knowledge and application of technical directing skills
• Maintains a professional approach and demeanor at all times; including while interacting with crew, talent, producers, and staff
• Helps create a positive team-oriented atmosphere

Qualifications:
• Minimum 5 years' professional broadcast TV technical directing in a live studio environment
• Experience with Grass Valley switcher and EVS
• Overall understanding and knowledge of studio production
• Ability to think quickly and communicate well in high pressure situations
• Ability to work in fast-paced, team-oriented environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Willingness to work 40+ hours/week on a flexible schedule and remain accessible during Production peak times and available to work non-traditional days/hours
• Deep knowledge of live sports and live studio productions
• Directing experience is a plus
