Temporary Traffic Anchor

KENS5 in San Antonio is looking for a motivated and engaging Traffic Anchor to join our team on a temporary basis. This innovative self-starter will oversee the creation of engaging traffic content across platforms to help viewers stay safe and plan their commutes. The ideal candidate will thrive in a breaking news and ad-libbing environment, have the ability to create informative graphics, and demonstrate a strong knowledge and understanding of local roadways.

This person will be part of an engaging ensemble cast and maintain a strong social and digital presence. This candidate should have a proven-track record as a multi-skilled journalist and previous experience working in front of a green screen and as a Traffic Anchor.

This is not a position that can be taught on the job. All applicants must have previous experience in these areas to be considered.

Responsibilities:
• This innovative self-starter will oversee the creation of engaging traffic content across platforms to help viewers stay safe and plan their commutes
• This person will be part of an engaging ensemble cast and maintain a strong social and digital presence
• Gather and present information regarding traffic news on air and online
• Perform live reports and interviews on transportation, news, and community stories
• Collaborate with producers, assignment and digital editors, and co-anchors
• Communicate with the traffic information providers and emergency personnel
• Develop contacts and turn regular content
• Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

Requirements:
• Bachelor degree in communications or related field
• Minimum of three - five years of on-air experience as a traffic or news reporter
• Extensive knowledge of San Antonio, area roadways and conversational knowledge of the city
• Demonstrated ability to post graphics and content to various digital media platforms
• Availability to work a flexible schedule
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment
• Travel: Rarely: less than 10%
• Work Environment Set: Office: normally performed in a typical interior/office environment
• Physical Demands Set: Light work: Involves sitting most of the time, walking, lifting, bending, standing, etc.
