Job Description

KBMT 12, the TEGNA owned ABC/NBC affiliate in Beaumont, TX, is looking for a full-time Broadcast Director. This position will be responsible for switching live newscasts and other content. Close cooperation and coordination with producers, graphics operators, and other technical staff are necessary to keep newscasts clean on air. We are seeking an individual who can handle a fast-paced and dynamic newscast. The ideal candidate will bring new, forward-thinking production ideas to the table to help us adapt to a constantly changing viewer base.

Responsibilities:
• Coordinate with producers and direct all technical aspects of live newscasts and other productions.
• Manually switches video sources, graphical keys, monitor graphics and other aspects of news production.
• Identify and correct potential issues early.
• Work closely with news staff to coordinate and improve production (e.g. shot books, formats, etc.)
• Will also be required to staff other technical positions as needed, including studio camera and audio.

Job Requirements:

Requirements:
• Excellent communication skills are required. Coordination of technical staff in a fast-paced live environment is the primary job function.
• Preference given for experience with Sony switchers, ENPS, BitCentral Precis, and Chyron
• Adaptability and efficiency are hallmarks of a successful candidate
• Some schedule flexibility, including weekends and holidays.
• Knowledge of basic television broadcast terminology and methodology is helpful.
• Ability to adapt and embrace change.

Travel: Rarely: less than 10%

Work Environment Set: Office: normally performed in a typical interior/office environment

Physical Demands Set: Light work: Involves sitting most of the time, walking, lifting, bending, standing, etc.
