Morning Producer

Job Description

KING 5 is looking for a morning producer to join our team who can create informative and engaging newscasts that are fast-paced, interesting and unique. Our ideal candidate is a passionate journalist who is committed to informing our community. We also want a team player who can dig deep, beyond the nuts and bolts of a story to provide our viewers with more context. They will work with our anchors, reporters and photojournalists to highlight the big stories of the day.

They will report to the Morning Executive Producer and collaborate with our Senior Producer, anchors, reporters, photojournalists, and other morning producers.

This is an exciting opportunity to use your skills to create dynamic and interesting newscasts while working alongside a fantastic team of journalists.

Responsibilities:
• Create informative, engaging, inclusive and memorable newscasts
• Write in an urgent, conversational, accurate and creative way
• Use creative production techniques like graphics, editing and new forms of media to enhance stories
• Work with Executive Producer, Senior Producer, reporters and others to create unique, fast-paced and high-quality newscasts
• Use editorial judgment to help determine content of the newscasts
• Work directly with Executive Producer & other management to consistently build a high-quality newscast and plan for upcoming events
• Communicate well with anchors/reporters, assignment desk, field crews, production team, and other producers
• Make time-sensitive decisions using strong leadership and communication skills
• Research for facts and credibility.

Job Requirements:

Requirements:
• 3+ years of producing experience
• Strong news judgement and use of analytics to determine content and teases
• Ability to work mornings

Travel: Rarely: less than 10%

Work Environment Set: Office: normally performed in a typical interior/office environment

Physical Demands Set: Sedentary work: Involves sitting most of the time; walking, lifting, bending, standing, etc.
