Job Description

KREM 2, the TEGNA station in Spokane, WA, is looking for an Editor/Photojournalist who can create exciting content for television and digital.

An Editor/Photojournalist is a key member of our content team. We're searching for someone who can balance multiple deadlines, pay close attention to details, be a good communicator and uphold high journalistic standards to get our news on-air and to our digital platforms. This is a full-time, hourly, union position that reports to the Assistant News Director.

Responsibilities:
• Creative storytelling with the highest journalistic standards
• Edit video elements including show opens, voice-overs, soundbites, packages, graphics and teases for daily on-air broadcasts and web platforms
• Ability to multi-task by handling editing assignments and capturing feeds and FTP material from multiple sources
• Using creative production techniques such as graphics and other forms of media (viewer pictures, webcam interviews, etc.) to enhance stories
• Monitor producer notes in scripts to assure quality control in editing
• Encoding video for web and mobile distribution
• Gather video in the field for general assignment, breaking news or sports stories
• Shoot live shots with MSJs or live pictures solo out in the field
• Operate news gathering vehicle to and from various locations
• Have a professional demeanor and work well/as a team player with the news team
• Perform other tasks as required by leadership team (i.e. write for newscasts and Digital)
• This position will be scheduled to work weekends, mornings, evenings and/or holidays

Job Requirements:

Requirements:
• BA/BS in journalism, communications or related field preferred
• Understanding of the tenets of professional journalism
• Experience in non-linear editing and content management systems preferred
• Knowledge of ENPS and Axis graphics preferred
• Demonstrated social media proficiency
• Flexible with schedule, reliable and dependable
• Ability to be in on-call MSJ/Photojournalist rotation
• Organizational skills and the ability to work under constant time pressure deadlines
• Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events
