Job Description

TEGNA seeks a Data Engineer for the Data & Insights Department of Tegna.

This Data Engineer will help to develop and support various Data Integration and Analytics solutions to support business functions like Marketing, Sales, Product Development and Content Management.

This person has a passion for working with data and deriving meaningful insights from it. This position requires hands on experience with various cloud data computing and warehousing technologies.

Responsibilities:
• Implement data ingestion routines both real time and batch using best practices in data modeling, ETL/ELT processes by leveraging cloud technologies and big data tools
• Gather business and functional requirements and translate these requirements into robust, scalable, operable solutions with a flexible and adaptable data architecture
• Proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve strategic issues that may impair the team's ability to meet technical or strategic goals

Job Requirements:

Requirements:
• 5+ years of experience in developing ETL/ELT pipelines
• 5+ years of experience in writing complex SQL queries
• 2+ years of experience working with semi structured data formats like json, avro etc.
• 2+ years of experience working with cloud object storage like S3 or GCS
• 2+ years of experience with snowflake and/or BigQuery
• 2+ years of experience with Python and pandas
• 2+ years of experience in reporting development using industry leading tools like ThoughtSpot, Tableau, Google Data Studio and/or Looker
• 2+ years' experience with GCP (preferred) or AWS
• Experience working with agile development methodology
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with meticulous attention to detail
• A fast-learning curve, with the ability to understand our customer's needs on both a business and technical level
• Travel: Rarely: less than 10%
• Work Environment Set: Office: normally performed in a typical interior/office environment
• Physical Demands Set: Light work: Involves sitting most of the time, walking, lifting, bending, standing, etc.
