Job Description
The TEGNA Design Tank in Denver, CO is in search of a multi-skilled Designer and Graphics Playout Coordinator to be a part of its internal creative department and graphics hub, servicing our 64 news brands across 51 markets across the country. The designer/ coordinator will be responsible for designing templates, overseeing the production, implementation and support of Character Generator templates across several graphics playout platforms. He/she will work with a team of designers to provide best-in-class

templated graphics to thousands of staff in the field, research new methods, test new production systems, interface with vendors, train staff, and more. The position works closely with the Head of Technology & Operations, Production Manager, and Creative Director.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee the design, production, testing and support of CG Templated graphics for various playout and design systems, including, but not limited to: Chyron Prime
• Train and mentor design staff on CG template design and implementation best practices
• Delegate as necessary to fellow CG team members to maintain peak operating efficiency with little field downtime
• Interface with clients and vendors to assist in troubleshooting, gathering feedback, resolving, and documenting outstanding issues
• Research and pilot new methods of templatized graphic solutions to reduce cost and improve services in the field
• Establishing training procedures for design staff to facilitate faster adoption and use of CG systems

Job Requirements:

Requirements:
• 1-3 years' experience designing with CG Playout systems such as Chyron Prime, Ross XPression, VizRT, or similar
• Experience with CG template design and operation during live events/production preferred
• Strong aptitude for learning and understanding complex digital workflows and procedures for building, testing and implementing templated graphics
• Experience testing with newsroom automation software such as ENPS, iNEWS, or similar, preferred
• Strong design and animation skills in Adobe products, specifically After Effects and Photoshop preferred
• An understanding of broadcast standards and newsroom control room CG template technical requirements and options
• Control room technical direction and/or location CG Operation experience preferred
• Experience with a hub-spoke graphics deployment models preferred
• A professional portfolio showing CG templates that you've built. We want to understand what your templates have accomplished and solved for
• Strong leadership skills and ability to work with demanding clients
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to perform under very tight deadlines
• Able to react to change and take direction effectively and productively
• Strong spelling and grammar skills
• Schedules will be consistent with occasional flexibility required during busy times
