Responsibilities
The combined newsrooms of WMAQ NBC 5 Chicago and Telemundo Chicago are looking for an assignment manager to lead our highly organized, and aggressive assignment desk team. The best candidate will be an excellent multi-tasker and scheduler, with a mindset to win breaking news and weather situations and identify storytelling opportunities.

Responsibilities:
• Manage daily news coverage and operation of both NBC 5 and Telemundo assignment desks
• Schedule assignment desk, and on-air talent teams
• Attend morning meeting and inform team about important events happening for the day
• Monitor scanners, and multiple social media platforms for breaking news and trending stories
• Logistics and tracking for all photographers and live gear
• Work with digital team to post content online
• Develop relationships with various police, business, government and community contacts
• Coach assignment desk team to success, and help them grow their skills
• Balance the needs of various platforms vs the costs
• Ability to work varying shifts, including nights, overnights, and weekends if needed
• Communicate with Transmission and Media Managers as feeds arrive
• Collaborate with other stations in town for pool feeds as necessary
• Work closing with Managing Editor

Qualifications/Requirements
• 4+ years assignment desk experience
• 2 years management with demonstrated ability to oversee people, communicate effectively, and keep an eye on solutions
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with daily deadlines and changing priorities
• Familiarity with various social media platforms
• Bachelor's degree or relevant experience
