We are looking for an architect and developer to design and implement our next-generation tools for artists working in sequence-wide workflows. These tools span many different workflows, artists, and stakeholders which requires this role to be able to understand how creative work is generated and tracked in modern pipelines. This architect will be working with the different studios to understand needs, create a design that can answer those needs, and can lead a team in implementing those designs.
Responsibilities
• Work with leadership to design the implementation and architecture of key services in the pipeline.
• Help leadership to track progress, outcomes, and provide key insight when a change of direction is needed.
• Work with projects across all studios to provide solutions and guidance for their pipelines.
• Work with and mentor more junior members of the team to help resolve issues and solve problems.
• Facilitate collaboration between departments through extensive client engagement.
• Contribute to developer facing or user facing documentation as applicable.
• Operate as a domain specialist and point person for multiple teams or projects when applicable.
• Write code that conforms to company standards and exemplifies good design.
• Provide some level of operational support for the pipeline as required.
• Work with the product owner and stakeholders to establish requirements and report progress.
Qualifications
• Advanced experience with Computer Graphics in a VFX, Animation and/or Game production.
• Advanced experience developing tools in multiple DCC's including Unreal, Maya, Houdini, and Nuke on both Windows and Linux.
• Good knowledge of C++ and/or Python is required.
• Advanced experience in a pipeline or tool development role.
• Production-level experience is a plus.
• Experience and vision around the implementation of asset management and pipeline-centric projects.
• Understanding of and the ability to operate in a structured DevOps context.
• Occasionally develop PoC level frames to demonstrate or propose concepts and ideas.
• Familiarity with modern structured development practices, documentation needs, and the tools that support them is very important.
• Collaborative and team-oriented approach to product development, working with teams across locations, time zones and cultures.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience working with large, legacy code bases; from maintenance and refactoring through to end-of-life support.
