Job Description

Our mission is to delight, engage, and inspire you through real-life storytelling.
Who are we?
We are a modern media company that engages a global audience of more than 300 million monthly viewers on all major digital, mobile, and streaming television platforms, with 700 million minutes watched each month. We create award-winning video content and original programming in the categories of Food, Travel, and Home & Design that we share with an engaged, passionate, and global community. Tastemade is built upon real data and an innovative approach to programming. We are changing the way the world watches, experiences, and engages with premium lifestyle content.
What are we looking for?
We're looking for a Director, Acquisitions and Content Strategy to join the Programming Team for Tastemade's streaming networks. This person will report to the Head of Programming and be responsible for acquiring and licensing film and television content from around the world to air on our global lifestyle networks across linear and VOD.
The successful candidate will have shrewd deal-making skills, an impeccable eye for content, a passion for unscripted programming, and the ability to develop cohesive content acquisition strategies.
Our Values:
• Tell a great story. Develop original and untold stories that inspire, excite, and delight. Great storytelling has the power to not only entertain but to shape culture.
• Embrace our world. Be globally-minded-value inclusivity and diversity, respect the richness of all cultures, and appreciate those who are different from yourself.
• Be constantly curious. Ask questions. Find answers. Always look for opportunities to learn and experience something new.
• Create community through experience. Treat every moment as an opportunity to create meaningful experiences to share. Shared moments build community.
• Own the Outcome. Think and act like an owner. You are entrusted to do what is best for Tastemade and for our community.
Who you are:
• A hustler who's not intimidated by the cold LinkedIn outreach and the ensuing chasing to bring a potential partner to the table.
• Self-motivator who does not require a lot of hand-holding but who also knows when to escalate matters internally and to work collaboratively in a small team.
• A collaborator and team player who can work across teams and work effectively with their peers and align them towards a common set of objectives.
• A doer who can bring projects to life.
What you'll be doing:
• Lead all aspects of acquisition and licensing for Tastemade Streaming Network channels, including deal sourcing, analysis, term sheet drafting, long-form review, contract negotiation, closing, and partner onboarding.
• Work closely with the Head of Programming and other stakeholders to develop a content strategy across acquisitions and originals that supports growth, and exceeds ratings goals.
• Track competitive acquisitions, production and development activity and communicate status to network stakeholders.
• Attend industry events, festivals and markets, virtually or in person. Be the representative of Tastemade as a buyer of content across distributors, festival programmers, sales agents and independent creators.
• Bring in potential projects for acquisitions through pitches or submissions from outside companies, and identify acquisition opportunities from non-standard sources (i.e. YouTube)
• Assist with reviewing and noting acquired shows to align with Network creative and runtime standards.
• Ensure that all internal stakeholders are aware of incoming programming, contractual and financial obligations.
What you'll bring:
• 7+ years of experience in the entertainment industry in either sales, licensing or acquisitions.
• Familiarity with FAST, AVOD, SVOD and the general TV distribution & rights landscape, with an ability to craft deals around all of them.
• A history of identifying and acquiring high-performing programming at a network or streaming service.
• Ability to self-manage a pipeline of content deals, from sourcing to signature.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
