Seasonal Festival Manager, Artist Relations

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Festival Manager, Artist Relations is charged with facilitating the departmental administration, operations, and strategy specific to artist and guest relations for the annual Sundance Film Festival.

Working closely under the direction of the Director, Festival Artist Relations the Manager will support Sundance Institute’s commitment to providing an excellent experience for all artists.

This temporary, full-time position is based out of our Park City, Utah office from Monday, October 25, 2021 through Friday, March 4, 2022 with regular opportunities to work from home. Additionally, this role will be required to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends at key points to meet deadlines and respond to on-call needs as assigned.

Top priorities include, but are not limited to...
• Developing and managing timelines and procedures to ensure administrative, operational, and strategic goals and deadlines are met.
• Working closely with the Director to develop and administer training plans and content for volunteers and staff.
• Managing a team of staff and volunteers, including hiring and training, providing direction, feedback, and support to ensure employees and volunteers are effective in their roles.
• Creating, writing, and proofreading departmental correspondences and public-facing materials as directed.
• Ensuring departmental compliance with all Institute policies, standards, and procedures and updating internal department procedure documents.
• Managing and assisting with artist relations activations; online and in person at theatres, events, and venues.
• Acting as lead on Salt Lake Opening Night and the Surprise screening as well as other special projects, managing pre-Fest communication, and acting as at-Fest liaison.
• With the Director, attending wrap meetings and composing applicable wrap reports, ensuring department staff and volunteers provide necessary wrap documentation.
• Attending operational meetings and collaborating with internal departments to ensure all department and logistical needs and duties are met and updates and deadlines are clearly communicated.
• Managing vendor relationships with the Director, including the Artist Relations fleet and interpreter service vendors, to maintain positive working relationships, proactive communication, adherence to procedures, and so on.
• Serving as the main departmental contact to collaborate with Tech Services, Production, Venues, and internal departments.
• Overseeing the daily operations of the in person office during the Festival, including ensuring set up and tear down, managing requests, the onsite box office, troubleshooting, customer service of guests, functionality and efficiency of processes, and so on.
• Serving on various Institute teams and committees as needed.

You have the following direct or transferable skill sets:
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• 3 years experience managing and facilitating artist or guest relations, or related.
• Leadership skills including experience leading a team or managing staff.
• Working knowledge of databases along with proficiency in Microsoft and Google Products
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Project management experience.
• Ability to collaborate effectively and affect change by applying best practices.
• Ability to cultivate strong relationships that are beneficial to all parties by building rapport and developing alliances with a broad range of people.
• Strong problem solving and conflict management skills.
• Experience managing operations and special projects for a large scale event preferred.
• Ability to maintain confidential information.

• Effectively lead a team of staff and volunteers to meet deadlines and create a positive experience for all artists attending the Festival.
• Ensure the department is providing Festival program filmmakers, artists, jurors and special guests accurate information, that they feel supported, and have a clear understanding of expectations before and during the Festival.
