Sr. QA Test Engineer (Remote OK)

Summary of Position

The STARZ Data Products & Engineering team is seeking a Senior QA Data Engineer who's passionate about ensuring data quality and integrity. You'll be constructing validation processes using primarily SQL and some scripting pipelines, helping us to provide stable ETL processes that provide timely and consistently accurate data products.

From several sources including database systems, vendor supplied files, API endpoints, and AWS S3 storage, you'll be working closely with the data engineers to validate data is being delivered from source to target accurately.
Our data pipelines provide data for the entire organization so helping insure that integrity is primary focus. You will also work closely with our Business Intelligence team to aid them in providing the accurate data models and data marts to support reporting needs. There is a heavy emphasis on SQL. We are using primarily Snowflake and SQL Server so having experience in these technologies or equivalent is preferable. Systems are being migrated from on-premises to cloud architecture so aiding in that effort will be a major component of the position.

Full-time remote candidates will be considered.

Responsibilities
• Develop, test and maintain accurate, scalable, and reliable data QA processes

• Ability to understand large, complex data sets across several different sources within the organization, including both structured and unstructured data.

• Understanding and the ability to interpret entity relationship diagrams in relational and dimensional models.

• Experience and working knowledge of connecting to SQL databases and reading and writing complex SQL queries.

• Experience writing and executing test cases according to requirements. Ability to interpret data mapping documents.

• Experience in preparing test strategy, test design and test summary reports.

• Working with the data engineers and BI team to understand requirements and provide feedback and testing results.

• Working in a team environment on a large scale effort to migrate from on-premises data acquisition and build processes to cloud based solution in AWS

• Build reusable regression testing processes to insure data is delivered accurately.

Qualifications & Skills
• 4+ years working in a QA role of a technical team, preferably with data engineering group.

• BS degree in information management, computer science, math, statistics, or equivalent technical field.

• Data Warehousing: ETL/ELT or data migration QA experience

• Languages: SQL

• Database Systems: Snowflake, SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL

• Data Modeling: Relational and Star schemas understanding
