Summary of Position

We're looking for highly motivated and talented hands-on Sr. Site Reliability Engineer. As a member and leader on the team, the #1 job is to ensure excellent customer experiences. We obsess over building high availability, fault tolerant cloud-based systems and services. The Sr. Site Reliability Engineer is expected to work cross-functionally amongst a variety of teams and be a core contributor in every significant solution that we deliver to our customers. This individual has a minimum of 5 years of experience in the outlined responsibilities, skills, and attributes.

Responsibilities
• Apply SRE principles to develop effective tooling, dashboards, alerts, and response to identify and address reliability risks.
• Able to implement and own an automation framework for the SRE team that provides a foundation for our monitoring and tooling.
• Can apply the SRE principle of eliminating toil to build tools and automation systems to reduce operational tasks; improve automatic issue identification and routing, and predict platform performance in accordance to SLAs based on overall platform health and progress.
• Identify and drive opportunities to improve automation for deployment, management, tooling and visibility of both our internal and external customers.
• Participates in predictive scaling exercises to ensure system capacity new content launches.
• Drive issue resolution and root cause identification with the various data infrastructure teams and partners.
• Perform and drive deep dives into both systemic and technology issues; partner with Software Engineering and Cloud engineers across the organization to deliver solutions.
• Provide technical leadership to a team of engineers to deliver the best in class system monitoring and problem resolution.
• Mentors new teammates and may coordinate project activities.
• Participate in on-call rotation to manage incident and to handle unknown/new issues.

Qualifications & Skills
• Expert knowledge of Python and shell scripting.
• Experience with log aggregation tools such as Splunk, Sumo Logic, and Logstash.
• Experience implementing Application Monitoring tools such as Splunk APM, Datadog, and New Relic.
• Software Development / Engineering experience in automation, tools, or dashboards.
• Demonstrable knowledge of SQL/NoSQL, TCP/IP, HTTP, web application security, and experience supporting multi-tier web application architectures.
• Proficient and can lead at root cause identification, triage and mitigation.
• Understands large-scale complex systems from a reliability perspective.
• Expert understanding of systems and application design, including the operational trade-offs of various designs.
• Strong desire for continuous learning and improvement in a fast-paced dynamic organization.
• Track record of successful practical problem solving, excellent written and interpersonal communication, and documentation skills.
• Interpersonal skills that enable you to lead and mentor other teammates.
• Requires very little or no direction.
• Awareness of latest SRE/software trends including ChatOps, IaC, and GitOps.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with Cloud Computing platforms (e.g. Amazon AWS).
• Minimum 5 years of experience with knowledge of one or more container and orchestration technologies (Docker, Elastic Beanstalk, Kubernetes, etc.).
• Minimum 5 years of experience with CI/CD pipelines.
• BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent degree/experience
