Summary of Position
The Manager, Publicity is responsible for implementing program publicity campaigns for STARZ original series. This role requires a judicious thinker with creative, out-of-the-box ideas, strong public relations skills and solid press relationships. The Manager must be a self-starter and work effectively cross-functionally. Must have strong written, verbal and organizational skills, take a solutions-oriented approach, exercise good judgment, adapt quickly under pressure and excel at talent relations.
Responsibilities
• Manager, Publicity will be responsible for developing and executing publicity strategies
• Develop and maintain strong relationships cross-functionally
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key media outlets
• Successfully pitch programming, campaigns and initiatives to media, including long leads, dailies, weeklies, trades and online publications; as well as secure electronic bookings
• Create media materials and facilitate delivery to all key media outlets
• Coordinate and facilitate media requests for talent and producers
• Leverage and incorporate latest technology in PR practices
• Monitor competitive landscape, providing updates on key communication and press activity; Monitor and stay ahead of industry trends
• Manage budget for all initiatives including press kit development, press initiatives, talent travel expenses, etc. with a keen eye for ROI across all PR functions
• Manage the press clips process
• Travel to and represent STARZ at various events
Qualifications & Skills
• Bachelor's Degree required; focus in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, English preferred
• Minimum of 5 years experience in PR, including experience in Publicity is required
• Candidate must have proven track record of delivering press coverage and established relationships with media.
• Must have knowledge of key conferences and festivals
• Must have prior experience managing PR campaigns with talent and creators as well as the ability to interface directly with them
• Must have strong relationship building skills and ability to work across teams both internally and externally
• Must have the skills to seek out and establish relationships with key media
• Must have strong writing and organizational skills. Ability to multitask, prioritize work effectively, meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment is essential
• Must have a strong work ethic, integrity, and good business acumen
