Senior Vice President, People & Organization - Strategic Functions
The Senior Vice President, People & Organization (P&O) serves as a strategic human resource leader for the global Strategic (Corporate) Functions, including the CFO Groups (Finance, IT, Global Real Estate, Facilities, Safety & Security and Sustainability), the General Counsel Groups, People & Organization (HR), Corporate Communications and Sony Innovation Studios (~2000+ employees globally). The ideal candidate must demonstrate a combination of strong business acumen and significant global human resource functional knowledge to guide the development of strategies that will attract, develop and retain the breadth of talent required to drive client business success. This position requires an individual who can act as a senior consultant to the business, build and execute a strong integrated human resources strategy.
This leader also plays a significant role, in collaboration with other P&O leaders, in ensuring Sony Picture's P&O Business Partner function remains a world-class P&O organization with strong employee engagement. As part of the P&O leadership team, this role requires an experienced perspective based on business and organizational transformation, active collaboration, agility, technical excellence and the ability to successfully partner with and advise senior business leaders and functional P&O leads.
Reporting directly to the EVP & Chief People Officer, this leader directly manages an organization of five P&O employees while closely collaborating with leaders across P&O in this highly matrixed leadership structure.
Responsibilities:
(50%) Business Partner Manager: Partner with SPE executives globally to drive business results by actively engaging in the development and execution of business strategies, by defining, aligning and executing integrated P&O strategies.
• Lead organization design activities to streamline and implement new organization structures, roles and/or processes that create speed and efficiency and support rapidly shifting business demands;
• Develop and implement change management strategies to support critical evolution of the business and achieve desired business results that are sustainable over time;
• Serve as a strategic business advisor to the leadership team on key organizational and management issues – a key member of the clients' leadership team;
• Assess organizational performance systemically, defining talent gaps and proposing P&O solutions that support client business objectives;
• Act as a strategic and tactical partner to business partners and business leaders as it relates to P&O initiatives (i.e. salary planning, organizational restructures, etc.)
• Create and execute a lifecycle approach to talent management focused on forecasting, talent acquisition, on-boarding, development, performance management, career/succession planning, talent movement and retention to fuel current and future business growth;
(20%) Act as champion of culture and advocate for employees with the goal of developing the strategic assets of people.
• Support diversity and inclusion strategies to ensure an inclusive workplace
• Responsible for surfacing issues impacting employees and proactively proposing solutions to resolve and improve employee retention.
• Disseminate and drive values throughout the organization
• Coach business leaders on employee communication, development and performance management strategies and tactics to promote engagement and a culture of continuous growth and development.
(20%) Develop collaborative partnerships with P&O and functional partners and effectively lead a team
• Develop partnerships with HR functional teams (e.g., Comp, L&D, Global Talent) and other staff groups (e.g., Finance, Legal, Communications) to deliver integrated solutions to P&O-related needs;
• Proactively integrate P&O functional partners into client strategies and projects, providing critical coaching and context to enable partners to make effective contributions;
• Effectively lead a team of P&O professionals to deliver flawless execution across the globe
(10%) Oversee and develop collaborative partnerships with our joint venture and subsidiaries for P&O strategy & execution
• Develop partnerships with HR functional teams (e.g., Comp, L&D, Global Talent) and other staff groups (e.g., Finance, Legal, Communications) to deliver integrated solutions to P&O-related needs, aligned to SPE practices;
• Proactively integrate P&O functional partners into client strategies and projects, finding opportunities to leverage scale while balancing business needs
• Effectively lead a team of P&O professionals to deliver flawless execution across the globe and whatever support they need from SPE or SONY processes
• Ensure all SONY compliance is followed – e.g., comp committee approvals, compliance training, alignment with policies etc.
Experience/Education:
• 10 + years of human resources generalist or related experience, ideally as a senior HR Business Partner for a global, multi-functional, multi-line-of-business organization;
• Demonstrated ability to independently develop, drive and contribute to overall strategy and business plans in a rapidly developing/changing environment;
• Experience leading a team;
• Strong knowledge and experience partnering with P&O Business Partners (generalist), Talent Acquisition/Management, Benefits, Compensation, Leadership and Organizational Development, Employee Relations, and Diversity & Inclusion functions;
• Exceptional client relationship management skills and demonstrated experience in developing consultative relationships with top executive leaders, including the ability to influence decision makers to think strategically and critically;
• Broad business and financial understanding and the ability to apply to human capital implications;
• Knowledge of employment and labor law required;
• Bachelor's degree
