This role will be based at the Van Nuys Industrial Media office and will be on Industrial Media payroll and benefits.

THE ROLE

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join the Industrial Media Team. The Senior Accountant will work out of our Van Nuys office and report to the Corporate Controller. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for accounting and finance aspects for television and music, including the Idol and So You Think You Can Dance formats and Music activity. This includes period-end close, financial reporting and analysis, profit participation reporting to third parties, budgets and reforecasts, and ad-hoc reporting as required. A successful Senior Accountant combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports. The selected candidate will be hard-working, independent, and a quick learner.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare divisional financial statements and supporting schedules monthly.
• Provide budget-to-actual and prior year-to-actual analysis with commentary.
• Create annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
• Liaise with staff and business partners to obtain any needed information.
• Liaise with TV production finance teams to ensure accuracy of data.
• Review and analyze third-party reporting including international distribution sales, merchandising sales, music royalties, and touring activities. Follow up with providers to resolve discrepancies.
• Update cash flow forecast monthly.
• Prepare journal entries.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly, including resolution of discrepancies.
• Calculate third-party participation statements.
• Other duties / special projects as assigned.

Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
• Public accounting experience preferred; CPA preferred
• 4-7 year of total accounting experience
• Prior television or music industry experience preferred
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, including analyzing and interpreting contracts
• Ability to interpret contract clauses as they relate to profit participations, royalties, and other key payment terms
• Ability to work independently while also being an active team member
• Ability to liaise effectively and professionally with other functional areas within the organization and with external clients
• Ability to manage multiple, deadline-driven assignments
• Ability to work efficiently and proactively, with excellent attention to detail
• Strong Office and Excel skills (very comfortable with pivots, complex formulas, etc.)
• Experience using SAP and Great Plains accounting software a plus
