General Summary:
The Regional Lead, Safety and Security (LATAM) is part of the Security, Environment, Health and Safety organization (SEHS). SEHS has global responsibility for Health & Safety, Corporate Security, Business Continuity and Crisis Management. This individual will be responsible for supporting Sony Pictures television and feature film productions on the eastern seaboard and in LATAM, providing direct/indirect support and consultation on Occupational Safety and Security to SPE productions primarily located in Latin America. Additional responsibilities include serving as a key contact and adviser to the Latin America operation, providing leadership, tactical support and innovative solutions to unique, spontaneous and critical business issues that influence the safety, security and well-being of all employees, as well as protecting SPE's physical and intellectual assets.
The position is responsible for ensuring the overall health & safety of the SPE production workforce and the physical safety and security of production personnel, locations and facilities. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: the development/implementation/ongoing maintenance of programs necessary to ensure a safe work environment; ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations relating to occupational safety and health, as well as recognized motion picture/TV best management practices; ensuring education on, and adherence to, all internal SPE Health and Safety Policy and Procedures.
The Regional Lead, Safety and Security (LATAM) is also responsible for oversight of issues involving security operations, security incident investigations, risk assessments, site/building security monitoring, and access control across the SPE offices in the LATAM region. The role also supports regional business offices and staff to ensure the security of staff, assets and operations across the region. Additionally, engage in the development and management of security measures supporting new and existing SPE facilities. The Manager is responsible for supporting regional security projects and initiatives as needed/directed.
The Regional Lead, Safety and Security (LATAM) is responsible for maintaining strong relationships with global security team members as well as with key partners and stakeholders in region and globally in order to deliver on specific initiatives. The Regional Lead, Safety and Security (LATAM) will report to the SEHS Executive Director for LATAM in Miami, and the Executive Director, Production Safety in Culver City, CA.
Responsibilities:
1. Production Safety
• Represent SPE SEHS/Production Safety Group to SPE-produced television and feature film productions across the Eastern United States and Latin America.
• Develop and maintain working relationships with production management and key production stake-holders, acting as a resource for safety and health compliance solutions, guidance and oversight.
• In conjunction with SEHS management, develop and assist in the implementation and ongoing maintenance of region-specific safety programs to ensure compliance with existing occupational safety and health regulations.
• Review scripts and production documentation to identify potential workplace hazards and work with production management and stake-holders to ensure corrective action and hazard mitigation has been undertaken.
• As necessary, attend location and technical scouts, production meetings, and conduct periodic audits of the workplace.
• As necessary, provide safety oversight on production sets and locations during filming.
• Represent SPE Production Security across production by assisting in identifying potential security issues and working with internal/external resources to provide solutions.
• Liaison with regulatory agencies on behalf of production as necessary.
• Develop a resource network of EH&S consultants and service providers to support production in Latin America.
2. Physical Safety and Security
• Manage security issues including: physical security, access control, site risk assessments security investigations and incident response / management.
• Responsible for evaluating 3rd parties to provide services related to security and safety and providing recommendations to the Director. Assist in management of security vendor resources in region.
• Define and document security procedures.
• Respond to requests for assistance with security issues.
• Oversee and deliver security risk assessments that are in line with our corporate policy to ensure
that SPE assets are properly protected at sites within the region.
• React and advise on regional security developments and security incidents.
• Provide physical security recommendations for new design/build projects of office space and other SPE facilities.
• Promote security awareness and instill a culture of collective and individual responsibilities for
consistently following good security practices.
• Create and deliver safety and security training to employees and security staff.
Position Requirements
• 5+ years' experience working in the field of Occupational Health and Safety / Corporate Security is desired.
• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Fire Sciences, Environmental Sciences or similar field is desired or similar relevant experience.
• Professional certification (NEBOSH, ASP/CSP is preferred).
• Excellent communication skills; proficiency in written and spoken English and Spanish is required. Working knowledge of Portuguese is a benefit.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and fluid environment where priorities change regularly.
• Have a working understanding of motion picture and television production and how safety and health programs are incorporated and implemented into the production environment.
• Have a strong knowledge of occupational safety and health regulations, industrial hygiene principles, fire/life safety regulatory requirements and environmental regulations and best practices.
• Self-starter who can work independently with minimal oversight or direct supervision.
• Deep analytical skills, the ability to identify, articulate and manage risk, and excellent written skills to report on both production safety and security-related risks.
• Ability to create and deliver presentations.
• Position will require domestic/US and Latin America travel and may require extended working hours and non-business day working during crisis and special events.
