Overview of the role:

This is a fulltime position, located in Berlin, Germany. The Managing Director will develop the marketing/PR & sales strategy and the execution plans for the movies distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing in the GSA (Germany, Switzerland and Austria) theatres, in line with the guidelines set by the studios on international level. The role will be to develop a streamlined and innovative local marketing & PR & sales & technical approach to generate maximum income from the titles brought to the GSA theatrical market and to lead the local GSA team towards implementing the plans and achieving the revenue objectives.

Responsibilities and tasks:
• Provide strategic leadership, vision, and direction to enable the GSA team to achieve maximum exposure with given budget for each movie and to maximize revenue.
• Develop and draft strategic and tactical movie distribution & publicity plans for each title in line with the studio strategy and guidelines.
• Build P&L forecast for each title in cooperation with the international Finance, Marketing and Sales team
• Developing and implementing a local sale and releasing strategy, in line with SPE´s global distribution and marking campaigns.
• Negotiating key terms with exhibitioners and ensure the best possible revenue results for your content.
• Manage and closely monitor the execution of the release/distribution plans in respect of the set budgets and timelines.
• Using, preparing, and collecting business data to support strategies decisions in cooperation with studios and partners.
• Build strategic alliances with partners, agencies, and stakeholders to develop sales & marketing initiatives and optimize the return on investment.
• Maintain a close, professional relationship with studio home office and studio partners
• Closely collaborate with other international theatrical distribution teams to give support & input regarding trade theatrical releases/activities/campaigns
• Entertain close relationship with other divisions and film partners to develop cross-divisional theatrical releases/activities/campaigns approach whenever relevant
• Monitor key market trends; interpret and communicate this data so that it becomes compelling management information on which international strategic decisions can be based.
• Maintain high levels of knowledge of technological developments to ensure all theatrical releases are fully maximised.
• Report theatrical releases data and spends and any other required information to the home office studios within given deadlines
• Ensure follow-up on required financial accounting requirements and SPE corporate and compliance policies
• Ensure an effective and efficient consultation structure within GSA and optimal motivation and development of staff
• Monitor department efficiency and ensures improvement when possible and necessary
• Representing the company at public events, film premieres and attending conferences

Profile/qualifications:
• Ideally a minimum of 10 years' experience in Sales/Marketing Media in GSA/EMEA, preferably in the theatrical distribution or entertainment sector.
• Strong leader with a proven record of people management. Ready to represent a global brand with regular contact to home office teams.
• Proven track record in delivering innovative campaigns and releases and strong digital sales & marketing knowledge
• Strong interpersonal skills required and ability to manage multiple partners.
• Proven track record of successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Germany & English
• Ability to influence, negotiate and persuade others
• Self-motivated, collaborative leader and facilitator
• Creative and innovative in approach
• Willingness to travel
• University degree or comparable education and experience in the media industry.
