Overview
Sony Pictures Entertainment's Corporate Development Group is seeking a Manager based in London with proven financial and strategic skills and a strong interest in the entertainment industry. The Manager will have the opportunity to apply business and financial expertise to deals and strategic initiatives for various SPE business units, including digital media and television. The Manager will be involved in identifying growth opportunities globally, evaluating proposed transactions from a strategic and financial perspective, driving development of SPE's overall strategic plan, and coordinating the initiatives of each of SPE's divisions into Sony's growth plans. The Manager plays a key role in merger & acquisitions (M&A) deal flow in EMEA, competitive and strategic analysis around specific issues or opportunities, strategic oversight for annual corporate budgeting and forecasting, and interfaces with internal clients across SPE's operating groups, including senior executives, and third parties.
The ideal candidate for this role will have 4-5 years of experience working for an investment bank or M&A advisory firm, the corporate finance division of a large accounting or consulting firm, or within the M&A / strategy function of a corporate organisation. The manager will report to the VP of Corporate Development located in London and work closely with the global Corporate Development team located in Los Angeles.
Specific Responsibilities include:
• Provide financial, analytical modeling, detailed due diligence, and strategic support for evaluating potential M&A candidates, joint venture partners, and business development growth initiatives
• Perform industry due diligence including market research of industry metrics, trends, and competitive analysis / Maintain an up-to-date view on market research related to the industry
• Build complex financial and valuation models and analysis for potential and live transactions
• Manage the cross-functional due diligence process supported by external advisors and collaborating with function leads
• Prepare presentations for senior management, and coordinate with senior executives to support and execute transactions
• Drive complex, cross-functional strategic initiatives that impact all aspects of the business and organization
• Partner with leadership and finances teams to conduct analysis, craft messaging, and create deliverables for board meetings and key investor updates
• Conduct ad-hoc analyses and presentations at the request of senior executives
Experience and Skills Desired:
• Typically a minimum of 4 years of experience in investment banking, corporate finance / transaction advisory, private equity, or corporate development
• Experience in entertainment and/or media preferred
• B.S / B.A. required; MBA strongly preferred
• Strong analytical and financial modeling skills
• Experience developing compelling business cases and presentations
• Deadline-driven, organized, and able to multi-task
• Ability to work in a team and on a standalone basis
• Pragmatic, can-do attitude with a high degree of autonomy and flexibility
• Ability to develop a collaborative rapport with divisional executives and teams
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Outstanding business acumen and strong commercial sense
• Proficiency with MS Office applications including Excel and PowerPoint
• Fluent in English, foreign language skills beneficial
