The Sony Pictures Imageworks Production Finance team requires a talented Payroll Administrator who
can work independently in a high volume and fast paced production environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
-Responsible for ensuring weekly payroll is processed and completed for the Vancouver VFX
Studio (800+ employees) and other SPE Canadian entities (SPR – 50 employees)
-Review Payroll register to ensure payroll changes have been applied (terms, new hires, rate
changes, SIN updates, etc.).
-Ensure compliance with BC-ESA, Canada Pension Act, Employment Insurance Act & Income
Tax Act, Vacation policy, etc.
-Provide necessary information to government agencies regarding employee ROE's and
employment status inquiries.
-Notify employees of any pay related information or issues (Closures, voting, jury duty, statutory
holidays, etc.).
-Lead contact for employee payroll inquiries and follow-up with 3 rd Party payroll provider
-Ensure all payroll year-end procedures are properly adhered as per Canada Labor Payroll
requirements and tax authorities.
-Conduct various payroll audits throughout the year to ensure 3 rd Party payroll provider systems
are properly tracking employee payroll data.
-Provide reports to department managers & heads of departments as required.
-Reconcile weekly payroll ledgers and troubleshoot coding errors.
-Become the expert with internal (TAAS and Timekeeper) and external 3 rd Party Payroll provider
labor tracking systems. Highlight any issues in a timely matter.
-Responsible for the set-up of any new satellite VFX studio location(s) World-wide
-Learn local legislation/employment standards to properly set up new employees in TAAS
and ensure proper payment for OT and statutory holidays.
-Set-up local workers' compensation accounts, employee benefits filings, set-up, and
administration assistance.
-Create reporting tools for timecards to ensure proper coding to billable projects.
-Adaptability to changing Work From Home (WFH) payroll requirements
-Adhere and quickly adapt to tighter deadlines dependent on various production WFH
scenarios and reporting requirements
-Process manual payments for quarantine pay and hotel reimbursements
-Point person for any payroll system/platform integration, transition, and interface builds
-Expert in payroll tax set up, testing payroll data, report requirements
-Learning any new payroll system and becoming expert
-Point person for training on any new hires and new timecard approvers
-This position entails ongoing daily communication with various productions, SPE finance, 3 rd
Party Payroll Provider contacts, and other 3 rd party contacts.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills is critical.

Education, Experience and Skills Required:
-2-4 years of relevant payroll processing experience (production payroll preferred)
-Ability to communicate effectively with production employees (primarily artists population) of all
levels
-Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
-Ability to prioritize effectively and meet all deadlines
-Ability to operate effectively in a cross-functional team environment
-Payroll Compliance Practitioner and a Bachelor's degree preferred
