The Lead Software Engineer (Frontend) is responsible for leading frontend software engineers to design, implement, and deliver customer-facing applications. The engineering manager will guide frontend engineering teams in sprint planning, research, integration with backend services while technically contributing with hands-on coding skills. This role works across cross-functional teams within SPE New Media team to gather requirements for user experience and user interface and is responsible for translating the business requirements into technical requirements.

The ideal candidate has worked in a lead technical role and has strong technical skills with experience leading software engineering teams in designing customer facing applications. You are an individual who is highly motivated to work closely with engineering teams to reduce technical debt and ensure best practices and software development patterns.

Responsibilities of this position include:
• Design, develop, implement web and mobile applications using modern technologies
• Build frontend components and user interfaces using frameworks such as React and Angular
• Develop and implement automated tests to ensure the quality and ongoing reliability of features
• Effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams including UI/UX designers, product managers and operations
• Lead the software development teams in defining and ensuring applications are held to proper development, testing and quality standards
• Manage project and release schedules and milestones

Qualifications should include a minimum of:
• 7+ years of professional frontend and mobile application development experience
• Strong hands-on coding experience with HTML, CSS and JavaScript
• Professional Android development experience with Java or Kotlin
• Experience architecting and developing scalable web and Android applications
• Experience monitoring high usage Web applications in Production
• Experience leading technical projects with multi-disciplinary engineering teams
• Deep understanding of RESTful APIs
• Knowledge of web development best practices
• Knowledge of software development lifecycles, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing and operations
• Good verbal and written communication skills
