Financial Analyst, Imageworks
The Sony Pictures Imageworks Production Finance team is seeking a talented Financial Analyst who can work towards the bigger goals of the organization while having the ability to maintain focus on the smaller elements of the big picture.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist with CRA Audits and work closely with P&O on the BC Residency Tracking tool
• Preparation and follow-up of monthly Canadian GST return and other government census reporting
• Audit of monthly procurement card statements and petty cash to ensure adherence to SPE policy
• Review of overhead to ensure any COS related expenses are reclassified to projects
• Compile monthly Senior Management Reporting:
• Consolidated income statement
• Gross Profit by project summary (comps to Forecast/Budget)
• Summary Overhead SG&A and Production SG&A with variance explanations
• Detailed headcount report: explain any variances
• Systems, Development, Procs & Disks detail by project and recoupment analysis
Production Support and Analysis:
• Monthly Overhead project reporting and Artist GAP time analysis + month-end clearing entries
• Support SPI/SPA with artist labor tracking against projects, analysis, and provide guidance and support to CG on necessary adjusting journal entries
• Support SPI/SPA GFO/CG in monitoring primary and secondary ledgers to ensure all ledgers are in balance
• SPI/SPA prepare and review production journal entries for reclassification of expenses, weekly production fees, and general month-end project related entries
• Work with SPI Technology team to compile and track CAPEX actuals against budget/forecast
• Provide project accounting support to SPI Technology team for various software development and technology initiatives; includes liaison with SPE IT and Procurement
• Assist with ad hoc presentation decks and special projects
Production Project Accounting and Systems Data Maintenance:
• Review weekly Vancouver payroll register to ensure accurate and timely payroll postings to projects
• Weekly update of artist ratecard and perform ad hoc analysis on ratecards as requested by production
• Update and maintain various SAP labor and rate tables
• Become the expert with internal labor tracking systems (TAAS and Timekeeper)
• Maintain WBS project listing for US and Canada
• This position entails ongoing daily communication with various productions, SPE finance, legal, tax, P&O, payroll contacts, and other 3rd party contacts
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 2-4 years of relevant accounting/finance experience (project accounting preferred)
• Excellent project management, organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to prioritize effectively and meet all deadlines
• Ability to operate effectively in a cross-functional team environment
• Advanced MS Excel/PowerPoint preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are critical
