About the job

Sony Pictures Entertainment is looking for a strong executive to join our team as a Director, Strategic Analytics. As media consumption habits are rapidly changing and evolving, we are seeking to infuse audience understanding and insights throughout the value chain at SPE.

What will be your mission?

At Sony Pictures, our mission is to meet audiences where they are and connect them to the content they love and are looking for across our rich and diverse repertoire of movie and television IP.
Our team is responsible for leading strategic analytics that enable us to understand the changing consumer behaviors and preferences within the media landscape. We are building an inhouse capability we believe will enable SPE to maximize the sales and performance of our IP.

As such, this role supports all lines of business across SPE. You will be a key leader to deliver data-driven Audience Analytics to inform the key strategic decisions that arise throughout the Film and Series IP creation and distribution lifecycles, across multiple functional divisions (Marketing, Sales, Finance, Corporate, Operations, BI, etc.).

You will deliver against this responsibility through impactful and relevant ad hoc analyses, and through co-creation of new audience solutions and decision enhancing tools to support our business objectives and to empower our stakeholders. Partnering with the Data Science and Data Management team you will define, build and test use cases and Proof of Concept analytics to demonstrate the value and impact of audience insights. And for those analyses that deliver informed action against a recurring business question, you will evolve these Test Cases into stand-alone solutions and tools. You will define the way in which our analyses (ad hoc through stand-alone tool) communicate a clear and concise story, that culminates in a ''so what?'' of concrete, measurable impact and action.

You will seek to deeply understand the complex challenges we face across SPE as we look to connect our content with audiences via our clients. You will be responsible for building frameworks that enable SPE to be seen as industry leaders in defining new audience solutions for our partners.

You will define and guide initiatives that leverage our data assets at SPE to create best in class predictive models, consumer trends systems, recommendation engines and more – all geared toward building audience solutions, data products and insights that will predict audience preferences and behavior to drive engagement and consumption of our content across our partner base. To drive optimal commercial outcomes for SPE.

You will be reporting to the VP of Strategic Analysis & Tools.

Who are you?

You have a strong analytical background, and a demonstrated ability to summarize the complex into simple, cohesive, and digestible findings, stories and recommendations.

You have strong commercial experience and are versed in the different lines of business and business models that drive the studio revenues.

You drive and deliver re-iterations across analysis and you can translate insights into actions including developing and recommending audience segments for activation.

You drive Insights Stewardship at SPE by framing and organizing analyses in ways that anticipate follow-on questions and deep dives, but that also allow for easy interpretation. You deliver well-organized, clear, simple visualization techniques and distilled analytics and believe that this is critical in engaging business users and fostering a data driven culture.

You are comfortable working within two environments: in a fast-paced start-up-like environment and in a large and well-established distribution and marketing organization.

You thrive in a collaborative team environment and are comfortable driving project-based deliverables with internal stakeholder groups and with external partners. You dive into projects and quickly come up to speed to on existing processes to build, maintain & enhance tools we've created for our Distribution, Sales and Marketing colleagues. You appreciate working in a team who trailblaze new approaches, explore and ideate usage of new data, share our wins and learnings, value the importance of business application across our models and insights, and believe that the consumer is at the core of what we do. You are passionate about movies and TV series and want to surprise and delight audiences by connecting consumers to our content on whatever device they want to use to meet their viewing needs in that moment.
