Director, Security
The Director, Security is responsible for overall management of the security guard force at the SPE studio lot and local properties in Culver City, CA. This position also serves as primary corporate security adviser and law enforcement liaison. The Director is charged with defining operating procedures; creating and managing force deployment; developing policies, standards and guidelines; assisting investigations and advising on threat assessments. The Director also manages security service providers and ensures quality control and fiscal responsibility. Additionally, this position is responsible for developing and managing the Security Operations budget (approximately $6M total annual spend).
Core Responsibilities:
Security Operations, Culver City:
• Manage team including three FTE (Sr. Manager, Investigator, and Analyst) and contract management team.
• Responsible for overall management of security guard force, including 120 uniform security guards and 12 armed, plain-clothes Town Patrol (3,000 hrs/wk).
• Design and maintain emergency response procedures.
• Develop, maintain and advise, as appropriate, on company security policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Identify and prioritize security training requirements; ensure training compliance and delivery.
• Provide feedback and enhancement requests on security systems, infrastructure and architectural design to improve facility security and guard deployment efficiency.
• Overall responsibility for security of special events and productions at local company sites.
Corporate Security:
• Manage overall company relationship with law enforcement. Liaise with Federal, State and local law enforcement officials as required for Sony business needs.
• Manage security incident reporting and investigations for routine incidents, including property crimes, accidents, trespassing, etc.
• Consult on existing and potential external threats that impact Culver City sites.
• Serve as primary security stakeholder on Threat Management Team, assessing internal workplace threats and coordinating with Investigations, Legal, P&O, and other corporate stakeholders.
• Design, deploy and manage executive protection services, as needed.
• Consult on security training programs for employees and business stakeholders; assist with curriculum development, content, instruction and facilitation of training covering topics such as workplace violence prevention, active shooter response, situational awareness, etc.
• Provide support, as needed, for other S3 security programs globally, including production security, special events, anti-piracy at screenings, etc.
• Maintain professional relationships with security vendors, consultants and corporate industry peers.
Global Security Administration:
• Overall management responsibility for company ID, access control administration and visitor management.
• Manage badge policies and access provisioning processes.
• Manage visitor policies and deployment of the visitor management system.
• Consult with corporate stakeholders including Facilities, IT, P&O and Corporate Communications to ensure seamless and secure onboarding and offboarding processes for employees and contractors company wide.
Vendor Management:
• Responsible for overall management of security guard services vendor portfolio.
• Assist S3 peers and business unit partners with sourcing and vetting appropriate security services.
• Develop and manage quality control and audit processes.
• Organize quarterly business review (QBR) meetings for major vendor contracts; establish key performance indicator (KPI) metrics; track and report on performance; provide reporting to senior management on vendor performance and status of initiatives.
Budget Management:
• Prepare and manage budget for Security Operations department, including annual budgeting, forecasting and mid-range planning (MRP).
• Track ongoing monthly overhead costs and incident related costs.
• Ensure monthly accrual of regular expenses and timely payments to vendors.
• Document deviations from annual budgets; provide forecast updates quarterly.
• Ensure budget and rate compliance of vendors.
Projects and Special Assignments:
