Director, Data Management Lead

The SPE Business Intelligence Team supports the delivery of Data, Analytics and Insights across MPG, TV Distribution, TV Networks, TV Productions and Home Entertainment. The SPE BI ecosystem enables key decisions across the SPE Distribution Value Chain from Predicting Box Office to drive Media Buy Decisions and Releasing Strategy, TV series tracking and renewal predictions to identify future licensing opportunities, Tracking Audiences to forecasting Digital and Physical Sales and SVOD Consumption, Demand & Inventory Planning, Deal Analysis & Consumer Insights to drive Market Research via Ratings data and first party consumer data to help develop consumer closed loop models.

Job Description

We are looking to hire an experienced Data & Information Management professional to join our Business Intelligence team. You will take responsibility for managing our core data sets, developing reports, and troubleshooting data issues. To do well in this role you need a very fine eye for detail, experience as a data management lead, and a deep understanding of the popular data analysis tools and databases.
Our ideal candidate is a ''hands-on'' type problem solver who will work directly with the data engineering and business data management teams to help profile, catalog and design views & conceptual data model, catalog data sources and define data quality rules based on business use cases.

This is both a consulting and analysis (30%) role as well as tactical, hands-on (70%) role.

Responsibilities
• Managing core data areas for SPE (Performance, Product and Consumer Data Sets)
• Provide quality assurance of imported data, working with quality assurance analysts if necessary.
• Commissioning and decommissioning of data sets.
• Processing confidential data and information according to guidelines. (CCPA/GDPR)
• Helping perform data profiling and analysis to, provide data quality improvement recommendations.
• Identifying and advising the data engineering team on data management policies for SPE.
• Supporting initiatives for data integrity and normalization.
• Define Data Virtualization definitions and processes
• Manage and Maintain the Data Catalog Platform & technologies for SPE
• Define and Implement Data Access Policies
• Evaluating changes and updates to source production systems.
• Providing expertise in data storage structures, data mining, and data cleansing.
• Design self-service solutions to empower Data Scientists and Data Analysts for both data acquisitions, storage, and in-sight analysis
• Offering training and guidance to all team members including Business Users so that they can use SPE data more effectively
• Evaluating new data services against the Business needs and implement them
• Facilitate Data Domain trainings for the BI team

Application Delivery
• Responsible for requirements gathering and documentation for BI Solutions
• Analyze New and Existing Data Sources
• Develop Detailed Functional Requirements and Views for On Boarded Data
• Design & Develop Dashboards and Reports using Tableau & Power BI
• Testing Views and ETL
• Catalog Data Sources
• Design and Implement Data Quality Rules and Processes
• Help business evaluate value of new data sources (profiling)
• Continuously Monitor Data Quality and Own Data Quality KPI's for Domains supported.
• Support enterprise technology architecture strategies, vision and competency and represent BI in the Enterprise Architecture decisions
• Train and Guide the IT and Business Teams on SPE Data Domains

Requirements
• 10+ Years working in the Data & Analytics + Data Governance Space
• Hands On Experience running a Data Management Program
• Experience implementing a Data Catalog
• Deep Domain knowledge specific to Consumer, Marketing & Media
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in computer science.
• Work experience as a data analyst or in a related field.
• Ability to work with stakeholders to assess potential risks.
• Ability to analyze existing tools and databases and provide software solution recommendations.
• High-level experience in methodologies and processes for managing large-scale databases.
• Advanced SQL Skills
• Experience with AWS Lake Formation, Databases: Teradata, snowflake Visualization: Tableau & Power BI Data Catalog Tools: Purvue, Alation & Watson Knowledge Catalog (IBM Cp4D)
• Demonstrated experience in handling large data sets and relational databases.
• Understanding of addressing and metadata standards.
• Exposed to concepts of Data Catalogs and Data Fabric Architecture
• High-level written and verbal communication skills.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in Data Management /Information Architecture delivery
• Minimum 3 years' experience with Cloud Service Providers
• Experience with Data Profiling and Data Quality Frameworks

Skills Preferred/Must Haves: Demonstrate extensive abilities and/or a proven record of success in:
• SQL Experience
• Database platforms like Teradata, Snowflake, BIG Query
• Data Preparation Tools like Tableau Prep, Alteryx
• R and Python scripting languages basic understanding
• Reporting tools like Business Objects, MicroStrategy
• Visualization tools like Tableau and Power BI
• Agile Development methodologies
• Work effectively with team members, clients, and other areas of IT in multiple time zones
• Handle multiple tasks and be flexible in a fast-paced environment
• Deliver on time & on budget
• Working with a Data Catalog

Knowledge Preferred/Nice to Haves: Demonstrates extensive knowledge and/or a proven record of success in the following areas:
• Visualization & Reporting Tools like Tableau or Power BI are a plus
