Counsel, Strategic Sourcing & Contracts Management
Sony Pictures Entertainment's Corporate Legal Department is searching for an exceptional attorney who thrives in a collaborative team environment. This position will serve two functions. Its primary role will be to provide legal support to Sony Pictures' Global Procurement function (strategic sourcing/contracts mgmt.) in its support of various SPE lines of business, including production, post-production, marketing, music and media networks)). This will involve working closely not only with colleagues in the Legal Department but with the Global Procurement department and the various lines of business. Additionally, this attorney will work on a transformational project to [standardize and] optimize the Procurement Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) across the studio. This will involve identifying and addressing key constraints in the contract lifecycle, providing recommendations to eliminate redundancies in the process, and advocating procedural changes.
Sony Pictures, both on its own and as part of the larger Sony Group, engages in complex commercial transactions to secure technology, services and other products. Also, as a major movie studio, Sony Pictures releases films around the globe and seeks to capitalize on growing procurement opportunities in a fast-changing world. As a member of Sony Pictures Corporate Legal Department, the successful candidate will be part of an experienced, collaborative and supportive Legal team and working together with Procurement as part of their team. The candidate must be able to analyze a variety of legal issues, synthesize complex information, and provide solution-oriented legal advice.
Based in Culver City, California, the successful candidate will have outstanding academic credentials and three to five years of commercial or corporate transactional experience with a major law firm or a sophisticated in-house legal department. Additional experience with the media, entertainment and/or technology industries is preferred but not necessary. Valuable areas of expertise include procurement transactions, complex commercial transactions and experience in developing and implementing business processes.
Requirements:
• 3-5 years of experience in commercial or corporate law, transactional experience supporting Procurement or similar functions, including knowledge of technology, services, and new media transactions
• Privacy experience across multiple jurisdictions strongly preferred
• Excellent negotiation and drafting skills
• Able to work both independently and as a team player
• Assertive, detail-oriented, and able to accommodate tight deadlines
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to problem-solve in a professional, creative, and ethical manner
