Analyst, Research EMEA

Sony Pictures Television's Research department is a global team with staff in the US, Europe, Asia Pacific and Latin America. The team is responsible for supporting SPT's channels, content sales and international production businesses, with market and audience based quantitative and qualitative research, across all international territories for all television platforms.

This position plays a key role in providing analysis to Sony's businesses in the EMEA region working in an award winning Research team. Based in London the role will connect the business to broad industry and behavioural trends and be exposed to projects across the entire EMEA region. Collaborating with other Research colleagues in the region and other functions within SPT will be fundamental to success, ultimately ensuring research is used effectively in decision making that positively impact the business.

The role will provide experience of projects involving; consumer behaviour, landscape trends, linear and digital direct to consumer brands, transactional subscription and ad-funded models, in-region content productions and large content licensing agreements.

In addition, this role contains responsibilities for maintaining and tracking the team budget, working directly with the Vice President for Research EMEA. This predominantly involves working with Finance colleagues to ensure vendor payments are planned and delivered. This element represents no more than 20% of the role.

Core Responsibilities
• Support the creation of research that drives content licensing sales to linear broadcasters, SVOD and AVOD platforms across the region. Specifically, for large sales events and new and library TV shows and feature films.
• Understand and utilise over-arching consumer trends driving digital retail sales for SPT. This will include working on Sony's franchise titles such as Spider-Man, Venom, Ghostbusters and Resident Evil.
• Leverage SPT Research's tools, third party data and primary research to aid activities relating to SPT's international production businesses in both the scripted and unscripted space.
• With a broad regional remit, this position will be a key in communicating insights – creating and sharing concise and visually appealing materials with the Research team and broader business.
• The role will also own and manage the agenda for third party insights sessions for the EMEA business, providing strong exposure to multiple Research agencies, their datasets and insights.
• Building on those agency relationships, managing vendor invoices with SPT's Finance team and then supporting the VP Research EMEA in managing an annual budget tracker.
• Hosting the weekly Research team Communications Planning meeting; owning the agenda and driving the planning process with other EMEA Researchers.

Job Requirements
• Typically 1-3 years' experience in a similar role with experience of the media industry, or related qualifications.
• Ideally some previous experience in a market research or media research position.
• Must have excellent organisational skills and have the ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.
• Must have a strong attention to detail and accuracy, and ability to analyse numbers.
• Proficiency in Excel, Power Point and Microsoft Word is essential.
• Must be a strong team player with the ability to work independently.
• Passion for the film and television industry, particularly Hollywood movies and US TV series. Working knowledge of key consumption behaviour trends and major industry players.
• Experience / knowledge of TV ratings software systems and Tableau or other data visualisation tools would be an advantage.
• Language skills: English essential, other languages from the EMEA region would be beneficial, but not a requirement.
• Experience of TV measurement software or datasets (TechEdge, EMS, BARB, Nielsen etc.) would be an advantage but not a requirement.
• Experience of key media research tools such as GWI, YouGov Signal, Parrot Analytics, Whip Media/TV Time, GoldMedia VOD-ratings, FutureSource, Ampere, ComScore, OCC etc.
