As a Crowds Technical Assistant you will be responsible for maintaining crowd tools, providing front-line support to artists, and general troubleshooting of the CG pipeline in a production environment. The primary focus is ensuring artist efficiency. Receives day-to-day direction and priorities from Crowds Supervisor; reports to CG supervisor for technical and career guidance.
Responsibilities
• Basic understanding of the Crowds workflow.
• Helps maintain a wide array of existing workflows and scripts.
• Provides front-line production support to the Crowds Animators and Simulation artists, troubleshoots assets and shots, and helps artists with general problem-solving. Monitor tech requests, package up problems and redirect them to the appropriate technical team.
• Tests and validates tools and techniques in production. Works closely with tech teams in testing and releasing new and modified software systems.
• Maintains a consistent level of productivity while meeting deadlines and producing high-quality work.
• Updates documentation for the pipeline and tools to reflect any changes that are made.
• Follows the Supervisor's and Lead´s guidance.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Demonstrated experience maintaining tools for use in a CG environment.
• At least 3 years production experience in visual effects for film, commercials or television.
• Proficiency in Linux
• Advanced Python scripting required
• Experience in Maya, Houdini and RenderMan
• Ability to communicate cross-discipline and provide innovative solutions to pipeline issues.
• Detail-oriented and strong self-sufficient troubleshooter.
• Medium English level required.
• Spanish desirable.
