Senior Morning Producer

Job Description

As the Senior Morning Producer, you will work closely with our Morning News Producers to improve the flow, pacing, writing and production quality of our newscasts. You will have the opportunity to line produce and to manage in the booth with other producers. You've got to embrace and 'own' news when it breaks! The unofficial title for this position is ''An 'On Your Side' brand ambassador. You have to understand our brand and how to write to it and showcase it. Our Morning News is growing fast and we need someone who can help us continue to grow and lead our team on all platforms. You must be a digital thinker, understanding the value of presenting our content for the morning news audience. Do you know how to mine social media for stories and information? Can you inspire our team to think digital first? You should be able to work well under pressure while maintaining close attention to detail. Bottom line, you must have high energy and be determined to win!

• Solid news judgment
• Compelling and accurate writer
• Multitasking abilities and organizational skills are essential to this position
• Understand the multi-platform morning news audience and how to write a headline and push notifications
• Familiar with non-linear editing (i.e. Avid) and newsroom systems, such as iNews, Axis graphics…
• Proficient with morning news analytics and know when to pivot
• Be able to execute the morning news strategy
• Ability to collaborate with Directors

Required Experience:
• Must have at least 3-5 years of previous news producing experience at a commercial TV station
• Journalism degree preferred
