Job Description
The News Training Manager will be the main point of contact in respective area for all training needs. This role will manage the constant upskilling of assigned functional areas to maintain a competitive edge in the media industry.  This role is also responsible for aligning all pre-existing training teams and trainers currently supporting assigned function and establishing a cohesive training plan to guide future training activities.  The News Training Manager will be the primary trainer or facilitator for related topics at conferences and events, so it is vital that this individual have a strong ability to command a classroom and effective presentation skills.  *Travel will be required approximately 30% of the time.

The News Training Manager will report directly to the Director, News Training and Development. Individuals hired into this position will have indirect supervision by the Director, Learning & Organizational Development and will join the Sinclair Training Center of Excellence for the purposes of:
• Centralizing training resources
• Streamlining training contributions across a wide range of areas
• Improving ROI through the identification and development of reusable assets
• Reducing development and delivery times
• Leveraging unique knowledge and skills of all training positions
• Reducing duplication of effort across initiatives within the organization

Essential Functions:
• Create monthly all-hands learning experiences for respective learning groups for the purpose of reinforcing a learning culture at Sinclair company-wide and supporting unity amongst local field teams and markets
• Proactively identify areas of opportunity that might benefit from additional training or learning experiences
• Support the initial onboarding of newly hired team members to ensure new hires are appropriately trained and enabled to meet expectations
• Provide recommendations to the LMS Administrator for interface design, sequencing of instruction, use of assessments, and activities for training
• Demonstrate a solid understanding of the respective work environment and unique needs of the associated learners (i.e., sales team needing flexibility to consumer training in between client appointments and news team needing training available on their phones as they're on the go)
• Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs by linking expected behaviors and desired training outcomes with business results and implement improvements as required
• Utilize the Learning & Organizational Development team to create on-demand courses for publication in the LMS

Preferred Qualifications
• Minimum of 5 years experience creating training materials
• Advanced Microsoft PowerPoint and Word skills
• Excellent public speaking skills at large events with diverse groups of attendees.
• Outstanding written and oral communication skills
• Capability to juggle multiple projects with superior attention to detail
• Self-directed leadership skills required to initiate and maintain ongoing projects
• Networking skills to stay aware of updates from industry thought and content creation leaders 
• Ability to find and present examples of excellence from within the company
• Ability to assess and deliver clear, constructive feedback of work product as necessary
• Ability to clearly articulate training requirements to partners in Learning & Development
• Proactive desire to stay on top of industry trends and emerging technology for use in future teaching or learning activities
• Steadfast dedication to offering excellent customer service to internal client groups
• Aptitude to maneuver comfortably through complex policy, process, and people-related organizational dynamics
• Knowledge of learning best practices across various modalities, including classroom and virtual Instructor Led Training, self-directed online courses, and group workshops
• Travel will be required approximately 30% of the time
