In your role as Broadcast Distribution Engineer, you will work with internal resources to build, test, deploy, and maintain Advanced Television Systems Committee 3.0 (ATSC 3.0) air-chains, commonly referred to as NextGen TV. You will also integrate systems used for monitoring and troubleshooting over-the-air distribution systems of our next-generation broadcast signals. These systems will track and monitor all our transmission systems via central aggregation software.

You will apply your knowledge and experience with the best security practices to support our continuously improving NextGen broadcast critical systems leverage reporting engines as well as monitoring and analytics tools.

You will be part of a diverse, industry leading group of strategic thinkers and problem-solvers working to rapidly iterate on the NextGen distribution system to improve our operations and reliability as well as to support new revenue opportunities that NextGen offers our industry.

The successful candidate must be able to proactively manage projects, quickly diagnose and address any outages as they arise. The candidate must also be able to configure and troubleshoot NextGen air-chains and perform integration of systems as proposed business opportunities arise. You will also contribute to the streamlining of operations as the NextGen TV standard matures. To achieve these goals, the candidate must have functional knowledge of ATSC 3.0 technology and solid fundamentals in networking.

In addition, we are looking for the following general skills and experience:
• Work directly with engineering and operations to work toward a single internal platform for fault monitoring, trouble ticket escalation, and reporting.
• Develop operational processes for managing distributed infrastructure.
• Maintain and track network related performance data.
• Work closely with internal development teams to ensure internally created tools align with the long-term strategy for the Network Operations Center.
• Track and report on risks, contingency plans and roadblocks to stakeholders and leadership.
• Ensure that forward thinking technologies are factored into operations.
• Experience with test and measurement equipment for television transmission.
• Familiar with the modern broadcast infrastructure.
• Experience identifying trends, patterns, anomalies, and other occurrences.
• Working knowledge of virtualization and containerization software ie. (VMware, Docker)
• IP Network troubleshooting using common tools. (ping, traceroute, nslookup)
• Experience with packet capture and analysis tools. ie. (wireshark)
• Experience with multicast in an enterprise environment is a plus

Candidates should have 1+ years of broadcast engineering experience related to NextGen TV with a fundamental understanding of IP architecture.

The Broadcast Distribution Engineer will be part of Sinclair Broadcast Group's Engineering and Operations team. They will work closely with other technology teams to transform our traditional and NextGen TV distribution platforms.
