Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing seeks a Senior Publicist for its McElderry Books, Aladdin Books, Little Simon, Simon Spotlight and Paula Wiseman Books imprints. The Senior Publicist will execute successful publicity campaigns for children's books from newborns through young adult, and will manage book festival coordination for the department.

Responsibilities include:
• Planning and executing publicity campaigns that maximize exposure for authors/illustrators and their books;
• Writing press materials, including compelling press releases and creative, effective pitch letters;
• Securing national and regional TV, radio, print, online, trade, and podcast media;
• Developing and maintaining close working relationships with members of the press;
• Creating successful author events and multi-city book tours;
• Presenting campaign plans and highlights in internal sales meetings;
• Handling select department responsibilities

Qualifications include:
• 4+ years of experience in children's book publicity
• Experience with securing media interview/review placement, and conducting multi-city national book tours;
• Effective communication skills (oral & written) for interactions with media, authors, agents, booksellers, and internal departments;
• Excellent organization and communication skills, strategic thinking, and superb attention to detail;
• Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment;
• Ability to work well independently as well as in collaborative team environments
